Emma Watson Had An Unusual Meeting With The Director Of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
For the better part of the decade, the industry as well as the entire world knew English actress Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, something that was commendable. But deep down, she wanted to be known for other films and roles in the industry as well, which led her to look for opportunities. That opportunity came with her 2012 romance drama film The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But what makes this film special apart from being her first flick outside of Harry Potter was the conversation she had with the director of the film before.
In a past interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Beauty and The Beast star talked about meeting Stephen Chbosky when she was chosen for the role of Sam in the film. She said that the first time she met him was an unusual meeting for her since he had some tall claims about her future. She remembered him saying that this film was going to be a very pleasant experience for her as she would make a lot of new friends and experiences. While she thought he was just trying to cheer her on, those claims were actually on the mark. She said:
“At our initial meeting, he said, ‘Okay, not only is this going to be one of the most important parts you play, you’re also going to have the summer of your life and meet some of your best friends.’ I thought, ‘That’s quite a claim. Who is this guy? Everything he said came true.”
And with the release of the film, she got exactly what she’d hoped for along with the things that the director claimed she would.
