Sean Hannity and Wife Separated Years Before Confirming Split: Looking Back at Their Relationship

Sean Hannity, the prominent Fox News anchor, and his former wife, Jill Rhodes,

have officially confirmed the end of their marriage, more than a year after their divorce was finalized.

The couple, who share two children, separated years ago,

and in a joint statement to *People* this week, they emphasized their ongoing commitment to co-parenting.

In the statement, the former couple explained, “Sean and Jill are committed to working together for the best interests of their children.

Amicable agreements were entered into over four years ago between Sean and Jill.

They maintain a close relationship as parents to their children.” The statement concluded with a request for privacy, as both Hannity and Rhodes asked that their family’s privacy be respected, particularly for the sake of their children.

Hannity, 58, is known for hosting *Hannity*, his highly popular political commentary program on Fox News, which he began in 2009. He also runs a nationally syndicated radio talk show, *The Sean Hannity Show*. His ex-wife, Jill Rhodes, 57, is a former journalist. The couple has two children: son Sean Patrick, 21, and daughter Merri Kelly, 18. Despite their split, the two have maintained an amicable relationship as co-parents, continuing to focus on providing a stable and supportive environment for their children.

Looking back at their relationship, Hannity and Rhodes first met in 1991 in Huntsville, Alabama, where Hannity had landed his first major radio gig at WVNN. At the time, Rhodes worked as a political columnist for the *Huntsville Times*. Hannity, a Long Island native who had dropped out of college, was just beginning to establish his voice as a national conservative figure. Speaking to *Newsmax* in 2011, Hannity fondly recalled his first impression of Rhodes, saying, “She was really talented — gifted, but I really just fell in love with the little picture in her column.”

Their connection grew quickly, and in 1992, when Hannity moved to Atlanta to take a talk-radio job, he invited Rhodes to move in with him. She agreed, but only on the condition that they get engaged first. Despite some resistance from those around them—Rhodes’ colleagues at the newspaper and even their pastor, who questioned Hannity’s views during pre-marital counseling—the couple wed in 1993. Hannity shared in a *Newsmax* interview that the same pastor who had tried to talk them out of marriage later performed many of their friends’ weddings.

In 2002, Hannity showed his love for Rhodes in a heartfelt gesture by dedicating his first book, *Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty Over Liberalism*, to her and their children. He acknowledged, “The most important acknowledgement I make is to my family — my wife, Jill, and my two children, Patrick and Kelly, to whom I dedicate this book.” He went on to express his deep gratitude, saying they were the ones who made the long hours of work worth it, and they were the ones who made his life complete.

Throughout their relationship, both Hannity and Rhodes maintained a private life, far from the spotlight. Hannity rarely discussed his personal life in public, and Rhodes kept a low profile, with no visible presence on social media platforms like Instagram or Twitter. Hannity’s social media accounts also focused primarily on his professional life, with little to no personal updates.

Though their marriage has ended, Hannity and Rhodes’ continued focus on their children’s well-being highlights their mutual respect and dedication to raising their family. Despite the end of their marriage, both have remained committed to each other’s roles as parents and to providing a stable home for their children.

The couple’s long history together and the amicable terms of their separation illustrate a commitment to their family above all else. As they move forward, Hannity and Rhodes are focusing on their children, while also maintaining their respective careers. The public is now left to respect their wishes for privacy, especially as they continue to prioritize their roles as parents in this new chapter of their lives.
