Marilyn Manson’s ex Evan Rachel Wood opens up about music video in which he allegedly raped her as Channel 4 documentary explores chilling sex claims against rocker

Evan Rachel Wood, the ex-girlfriend of Marilyn Manson,

has bravely spoken out about the traumatic experience she allegedly endured

while filming the music video for Manson’s song “Heart-Shaped Glasses.”

The actress, who was 19 at the time, shared her account during the Channel 4 documentary *Marilyn Manson Unmasked*,

which examines the disturbing allegations against the rock singer.

Wood recalls meeting Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, when she was just 18 years old.

The two met at a Hollywood event while Manson was still married to burlesque model Dita Von Teese. Wood, initially believing there was little chance of a romantic relationship due to Manson’s established career and marriage, was surprised when feelings began to develop between them. By 2007, after Manson’s divorce, the couple went public with their relationship. Wood, who is 20 years younger than Manson, described her feelings at the time, saying she thought their connection was something special and that she felt “really safe” and “lucky” to be with him.

Manson, inspired by his relationship with Wood, wrote the song “Heart-Shaped Glasses” for her. He also invited Wood to star in the music video for the track, which would later become a controversial focal point of their relationship. Wood claims that Manson told her there would be a sex scene in the video, but that it would be shot in such a way that it would appear as a “blur.” However, things allegedly took a darker turn once filming began. Wood recalls that Manson became “aggressive” during the scene and allegedly started to pull her clothes off. She described trying to cover herself but said Manson “peeled” her hands away. At one point, Wood said she heard the word “cut,” but when she looked around, the crew had apparently walked off. She was left “naked, just crying,” feeling violated, but it took her years to label the experience as rape.

Manson’s legal team, led by attorney Howard King, strongly denied the claims, stating that the events described by Wood were “demonstrably false.” King argued that the music video was filmed in a studio with a crew present, and no one witnessed the alleged assault. He also mentioned that Manson was clothed during the scene, which he suggested would make it impossible for the claims to be true. Despite this, Randy Sosin, a former video commissioner for Interscope Records, expressed confusion over what had transpired on set, but he did not know at the time that Wood felt violated.

Wood has since spoken about the alleged incident in other forums, including the HBO documentary *Phoenix Rising*. In that documentary, she described the experience as “traumatizing.” Wood revealed that while they had discussed a simulated sex scene for the video, Manson allegedly went beyond their agreement and penetrated her for real. She shared her shock at the unprofessionalism on set, adding that she didn’t feel safe and that the crew seemed uncomfortable with what was happening. Wood stated that she was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses, and it was during this incident that she says the first crime was committed against her.

Manson’s lawyer previously dismissed these claims as an “imaginative retelling,” insisting that the sex scene was simulated. Wood’s allegations have sparked widespread discussion, with some calling for the removal of the “Heart-Shaped Glasses” music video from platforms like YouTube, though it remains available.

In addition to Wood’s story, other women have come forward with allegations of abuse by Manson. Bianca Allaine, a fan of the band, accused Manson of taking her virginity when she was just 16. Allaine claimed the encounter occurred after a concert in 1995, when she went to Manson’s tour bus. Manson’s lawyer denied these claims, saying he never met Allaine.

Wood’s bravery in sharing her story has contributed to a larger conversation about abuse and exploitation in the entertainment industry. Manson has also faced legal challenges from other women, including Game of Thrones star Esme Bianco, who accused him of sexual assault, battery, and human trafficking. In 2023, Manson settled lawsuits with several women, including Bianco, but denied all allegations. Despite his legal victories, his reputation remains tarnished by the accusations.

In 2021, Wood took to Instagram to publicly name Manson as her abuser, detailing years of manipulation and abuse. She vowed to expose him and the industries that enabled him. Manson responded by denying the claims, calling them distortions of reality, but his legal battles with Wood continued for several years. In 2024, Manson dropped his defamation lawsuit against Wood and agreed to cover her legal fees, acknowledging the case as meritless.

Wood’s continued advocacy for herself and others who have experienced similar abuse remains a powerful statement against those who have used their power and influence to harm others. While Manson maintains his innocence, the weight of the allegations against him continues to draw attention to the darker side of celebrity culture and the need for accountability in the entertainment industry.
