Jenna Bush Hager reveals awkward moment involving dad George W. Bush

Jenna Bush Hager, co-host of *Today* and daughter of former President George W. Bush, is not immune to the occasional embarrassment at the hands of her famous father.

During a candid conversation with her *Jenna & Friends* co-host, actress Taraji P. Henson,

Jenna shared the humorous yet relatable moments when her father’s public actions leave her cringing.

Despite being the daughter of one of the most recognized figures in American politics, Jenna’s experiences are surprisingly similar to those of many other children

who occasionally find their parents’ behavior a bit over the top.

Jenna’s reflections on her father’s antics reveal just how down-to-earth and relatable she is. Despite his status as a former president, George W. Bush is still just a dad to Jenna, and like any parent, he sometimes has moments that cause her to feel a little embarrassed.

She explained that she often finds herself advising her father to “keep it cool” in public settings. With the constant media attention surrounding the Bush family, Jenna frequently reminds her dad that all eyes will be on him, encouraging him to handle these situations with composure.

One particular viral moment became a focal point of their conversation, as it perfectly encapsulated Jenna’s feelings of embarrassment. This moment occurred during former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral, where a video of George W. Bush greeting President Barack Obama went viral. In the clip, Bush can be seen tapping Obama on the belly as they exchanged pleasantries. For Jenna, this innocent gesture was a little too casual for such a formal occasion. She explained to Taraji that she had to tell her dad that in such situations, it’s best to simply extend a hand in greeting rather than making an unexpected move like a belly tap.

As Jenna recounted this experience, Taraji couldn’t help but laugh at the situation, clearly enjoying the lighthearted nature of the story. While Jenna might have been embarrassed in the moment, she also expressed her deep affection and admiration for her father. Despite the occasional awkward public moment, Jenna shared how George W. Bush has always been a supportive and attentive father. She fondly remembered how her dad encouraged her and her siblings to pursue their passions and always made them feel like they could achieve anything they set their minds to.

“My dad was present, he was paying attention to us and made us feel we could do anything,” Jenna shared, with a warmth that highlighted the close-knit nature of their relationship. Taraji, acknowledging the bond between Jenna and her father, responded by saying, “That relationship is different and special.” Jenna’s relationship with her father clearly goes beyond the public eye; it’s one filled with love, encouragement, and respect.

Beyond her family life, Jenna has also been making strides in her professional career. She recently announced an exciting new venture—her very own imprint with Random House Publishing Group, called *Thousand Voices Books*. This new project is a natural extension of Jenna’s passion for books and reading, and it will focus on discovering emerging authors across a wide range of genres. “It’s still entirely new and exciting,” Jenna said about her latest career move, which will certainly add another dimension to her multifaceted career in media.

The first novel to be released under *Thousand Voices Books* will be *Conform* by Ariel Sullivan, a dystopian romance slated for an October debut. Jenna’s enthusiasm for this new venture reflects her ongoing commitment to supporting authors and their work.

Jenna’s *Today* show family continues to grow as well. In addition to Taraji, other A-list stars like Scarlett Johansson, Keke Palmer, and Eva Longoria will join Jenna as guests on the show, further proving its success and appeal. Jenna expressed her excitement over the caliber of guests the show attracts, noting that the desire of such high-profile celebrities to join the *Today* set is a testament to the show’s enduring popularity.

While Jenna might be “embarrassed” by her dad’s public moments, her achievements in both her family life and professional career are undoubtedly something she can be proud of. As she continues to thrive, Jenna’s relationship with her father and her career will remain an inspiration to those who follow her journey.
