I’m A Celebrity’s Maura Higgins reveals why she turned down The Traitors

Maura Higgins, known for her appearances on *Love Island* and *I’m A Celebrity*, recently shared that she was offered a spot on the hit BBC show *The Traitors*, but turned it down.

In an appearance on *Loose Women*, the reality TV star revealed that she had been invited to join the suspense-filled competition,

but was hesitant about the idea of competing in the Scottish castle, fearing she would be easily figured out by the other contestants.

Despite her initial hesitation, Maura hasn’t completely ruled out participating in a future season of *The Traitors*.

With rumors swirling that big-name celebrities like Courteney Cox, Stephen Fry, and Alan Carr could appear in an upcoming celebrity edition of the show,

Higgins did leave the door slightly open to the possibility of returning to the game—but only if the right circumstances arise.

During her interview, *Loose Women* host Kaye Adams reminded Higgins of her impressive ability to deceive fellow contestants during her stint on *I’m A Celebrity*, where she successfully tricked her campmates into believing she was enduring basic jungle conditions, when in fact, she was living in more luxurious accommodations. This led Adams to suggest that Higgins might be a perfect fit for *The Traitors*, a show known for its strategy, deception, and intense mind games.

However, Maura was quick to dismiss the idea, citing her own concerns that her tactics would be too transparent for the other players. “Do you think I am good at lying? I’d probably do it if maybe Coleen Rooney wasn’t in there. She worked me out, I thought I was being very good,” Higgins shared. Her comment referred to *I’m A Celebrity*, where Coleen Rooney quickly realized that Maura was not as stressed by her living conditions as she had claimed, leading to the eventual reveal.

The former *Love Island* star went on to explain why she had turned down the invitation to *The Traitors*. “I just thought people would work me out. I’d rather be a Traitor than a Faithful. I like to be a bit devious,” she admitted. Despite her reservations, Maura acknowledged that *The Traitors* is an exciting and highly engaging show, though she was still unsure if she would ever take part. “I don’t know if I’ll ever do it,” she said, further cementing her uncertainty.

Interestingly, Maura’s admission about turning down *The Traitors* is not the first time she’s said no to a reality TV show. She also revealed that she had turned down opportunities to return to *Love Island* as a bombshell or to appear on *Celebs Go Dating*. “I think my dating show days are done. I don’t want to go on a dating show,” she explained, emphasizing that she felt she had already experienced enough of that world. Higgins added that she had previously declined offers to return to *Love Island: All Stars* and *Celebs Go Dating*, signaling her desire to move on from her dating show roots.

While Maura Higgins may have turned down *The Traitors* for now, her appearance on *Loose Women* highlighted her playful side and willingness to embrace her past experiences on reality TV. For now, it appears her focus is on new ventures, but fans may yet see her return to a show like *The Traitors* in the future, especially if the celebrity version brings a fresh twist.

Speaking of which, *The Traitors* is currently in its third season, captivating audiences with its mix of deceit and strategy. Rumors of a celebrity version are heating up, with a star-studded lineup speculated to include names like Courteney Cox, Stephen Fry, Alan Carr, Tess Daly, Robert Peston, and Tom Daley, among others. The buzz around the celebrity edition only adds to the excitement, and Maura’s potential participation would be a great addition to what promises to be a thrilling season.

For now, though, Higgins is content to focus on other projects, and it remains to be seen whether she’ll eventually take a gamble on *The Traitors* in the future. Fans will just have to wait and see if the right offer or the right season comes along.
