Dave Chappelle jokes he was too ‘ugly’ to be invited to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ‘freak-off’ parties in ‘SNL’ monologue

Comedian Dave Chappelle brought his trademark wit and sharp commentary to the “Saturday Night Live” stage,

using his 17-minute monologue to address the explosive allegations surrounding music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The performance blended humor with biting observations, tackling the federal charges Combs is currently facing,

including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution.

“I’ve been in trouble in my day,” Chappelle began, “but let me tell you, this guy, Puffy… this guy Puffy is in an enormous amount of trouble.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this.” The comedian referenced the federal case against Combs, quipping, “They’ve got this guy in a RICO case by himself.”

The “Freak-Off” Rumors

Chappelle delved into long-standing rumors about Combs allegedly orchestrating “Freak-off” parties, exclusive and debaucherous gatherings that have been the subject of speculation for years. The comedian joked about his supposed exclusion, adding a personal touch to the humor.

“A lot of my friends asked me, ‘Dave, did you know anything about those ‘Freak-off’ parties?’ I’d be like, ‘Nah, man. I didn’t know anything about the freak-offs,’” Chappelle quipped. He joked that he probably wasn’t invited because of his looks. “Can you imagine reading a newspaper and finding out everyone in Hollywood had an orgy behind your back? None of y’all called me. That really hurts.”

The audience erupted in laughter as Chappelle imagined the scene. “It’s worse than I thought!” he exclaimed, poking fun at both the rumors and his perceived snub.

A Surreal Internet Rumor

Adding another layer to his routine, Chappelle referenced a bizarre internet rumor involving actor Reginald VelJohnson, best known for his role as Carl Winslow on Family Matters. “I saw something on the internet — probably not true, but it said Puff was in the back with Carl Winslow. And I thought, ‘Oh my God. Carl Winslow? And I wasn’t invited?’”

VelJohnson has publicly denied any connection to the allegations or Combs, stating, “I don’t know that man.”

Shocking Evidence and a Thousand Bottles

Chappelle turned his focus to the federal agents’ raid on Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami properties in March 2024. The raid reportedly uncovered a trove of over 1,000 bottles of lubricant, various narcotics, and three AR-15 rifles.

“I’m 51, and I don’t think I’ve ever finished a bottle of baby oil in my life,” Chappelle joked. The comedian painted an exaggerated picture of Combs’ lifestyle, remarking, “Clearly, Puff is committed to the lifestyle. A thousand bottles? Thank God they caught him before those fires — can you imagine the mushroom cloud over his house?” The line referenced the ongoing wildfires that recently devastated parts of Los Angeles.

Balancing Humor and Serious Allegations

While Chappelle’s audience roared with laughter at his commentary, the allegations against Combs remain grave. The 55-year-old music mogul was arrested in New York City in September 2024, facing charges that have drawn significant public attention.

Chappelle’s monologue, as is typical of his performances, walked the fine line between humor and critique. By addressing the allegations against Combs, Chappelle brought the story into the comedic spotlight, ensuring the discussion continued while also eliciting laughs.

A Complex Legacy

Sean “Diddy” Combs has long been a towering figure in the music industry, known for his business acumen, artistic contributions, and larger-than-life persona. However, the recent allegations have cast a shadow over his legacy, raising questions about his personal and professional conduct.

Chappelle’s performance on “Saturday Night Live” underscored the power of comedy to navigate difficult and controversial topics. As the legal proceedings against Combs unfold, Chappelle’s monologue serves as a reminder of the cultural and public scrutiny that accompanies such high-profile cases.

Though the audience may have laughed at Chappelle’s sharp and irreverent humor, the serious nature of the allegations ensures that this story is far from over.
