Sam Thompson details therapy visits and sister Louise’s support amid ‘tough’ time

Sam Thompson, known for his upbeat and carefree personality,

recently opened up about the challenges he faces behind the scenes, revealing that his life isn’t always as cheerful as it appears.

The reality star, who has been a prominent figure on *Made in Chelsea*

and other popular shows, shared some candid reflections during an interview with *Mirror*, touching on everything from his emotional struggles to the importance of his support system.

At 32 years old, Sam has experienced his share of tough times, including a difficult period over the Christmas holidays, which he described as “tough.”

Despite his outwardly positive demeanor, Sam was quick to acknowledge that everyone goes through low points, including himself.

“I’m really, really lucky to be in an industry that I absolutely adore,” Sam said, explaining how his career brings him joy and energy. However, he was also open about the fact that, like everyone else, he has days when he feels down. “That does not mean for one second that I don’t have days like everybody does where I’m down and I’m having a tough time.”

Sam further emphasized the importance of talking about his feelings, something he has been doing for years. “I go to therapy, I’ve been going to therapy for years,” he shared. “For someone like me, it’s really better to talk about how I feel and I’ll never stop that.” His honesty and openness about mental health are refreshing, especially in an industry where vulnerability can sometimes be met with judgment. Sam admitted that he is known for being a “moaner,” but he believes that expressing his emotions helps him avoid internalizing them, which can be harmful in the long run.

A major source of comfort for Sam is his close-knit family, particularly his sister, Louise Thompson. The two siblings share a special bond, with Sam living next door to Louise, her partner Ryan Libbey, and their son, Leo. “It’s amazing having Louise there,” Sam said, praising his sister for being an incredible mother and a constant source of support. “One of my biggest comforts, if I’m ever going through a hard time, is my neighbors next door.” He spoke fondly of the chaotic yet comforting family dynamic at Louise’s home, where there is always something happening, from her chasing after Leo to Ryan keeping things running smoothly. Sam described their home as a “beautiful place to be” and expressed how lucky he feels to have his sister so close.

Sam also revealed his humorous side when discussing his living situation, joking about potentially knocking a hole in the wall to create a connecting door between their homes. He quipped, “I’m having to loudly announce my arrival, just in case!” His lightheartedness about his family’s close proximity shows how much he values the support and love they provide.

Beyond his family, Sam has cultivated a strong network of friends, including his *I’m A Celebrity* campmate Marvin Humes. Sam recently returned from a trip to Jamaica with Marvin and praised him for being “such a lovely human being” and the “ultimate good guy.” Sam’s bond with Marvin has extended beyond their friendship, with Sam joking that he’s been asked to babysit Marvin’s kids but has yet to be given the opportunity. “I think they’ll have fun doing it!” he laughed, adding that he’s been fully embraced by Marvin’s family.

Another close friend of Sam’s is Pete Wicks, with whom he co-hosts the podcast *Staying Relevant*. Sam and Pete have been friends for years, and Sam described him as a “brother” and a source of comfort in his life. “There have been more times recently where we’ve opened up even more and said like, ‘You’re doing amazing,’” Sam shared. The two have a deep, supportive friendship, with Sam acknowledging how fortunate he is to have a friend like Pete who is always there when it matters most.

As part of his latest venture, Sam has partnered with Heinz for their Comfort Campaign, which highlights how food, particularly soup, provides comfort. Sam enthusiastically shared his love for the campaign, noting that food, especially warm dishes like soup, is his go-to comfort. He even revealed that he holds the record for the most hugs in 60 seconds, further emphasizing his love for comfort in all its forms. “I love being warm from the inside out and Heinz soup does that,” he said, expressing how the campaign resonated with his own personal need for comfort during tough times.

In all, Sam Thompson’s openness about his struggles, his close relationships with family and friends, and his ability to find comfort in simple pleasures like food and companionship showcase the importance of maintaining a strong support network and prioritizing mental well-being. His candidness serves as a reminder that even those who seem to lead charmed lives have their own battles to face.
