Michael Longfellow ‘Vomited From Exhaustion’ After SNL Bungee Sketch

Michael Longfellow’s latest *Saturday Night Live* (SNL) appearance in the hilarious “Bungee” sketch took a toll on him, physically, in a way viewers never saw on screen.

While his character seemed unimpressed with Timothée Chalamet’s fitness instructor in the sketch,

Longfellow shared on social media that performing the routine was far more strenuous than it looked.

The sketch featured Longfellow as a character who, along with his girlfriend (played by Heidi Gardner),

participates in a bungee fitness class led by Chalamet’s eccentric character, Nathanial Natrine, a.k.a. the “Bungee Queen.”

The class, which was meant to involve a series of light hanging exercises, quickly takes a bizarre turn when Nathanial turns the session into an odd celebration of a participant’s birthday.

Instead of focusing on fitness, he introduces a calorie-heavy treat, the “Cinnabon New Frosted Mega Cinna Cake,” to the group.

At one point during the sketch, Longfellow’s character, clearly unimpressed by the lack of difficulty in the class, questions, “Is this supposed to be hard?” The comedic timing and tone of the sketch leave it looking like just another lighthearted, goofy routine. However, Longfellow later revealed just how physically demanding the scene actually was.

In a post on Instagram, Longfellow shared the behind-the-scenes truth, stating, “After this sketch ended, I vomited from exhaustion into a recycling bin as this was actually a very intense workout for me.” Apparently, what seemed like a humorous, relatively simple bungee fitness routine turned out to be a serious challenge for the actor, who ended up physically drained by the time the sketch wrapped.

This admission came after the airing of the January 27 episode of *SNL*, in which Longfellow appeared in multiple sketches, including “Bungee,” “Oedipal Arrangements,” and the “Founding Fathers” cold open. This was a major moment for Longfellow, setting a personal single-episode record for appearances, further adding to the exhausting nature of his performance that week. His Instagram post, which included a clip from the “Bungee” sketch, gave fans a peek behind the curtain, showing just how much effort went into what seemed like a light comedic scene.

The “Bungee” sketch itself, co-written by Jimmy Fowlie, Ceara O’Sullivan, Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall, was a quirky and memorable addition to the episode. It had all the ingredients of a typical *SNL* hit: a star-studded cast, absurd humor, and a scenario that progressively escalates into chaos. However, for Longfellow, it was a lot more than just funny—it was physically taxing.

*Saturday Night Live* has enjoyed a strong start to the year, with the January 27 episode pulling in its largest viewership in two months. However, the show is now taking a month-long break. Producers are gearing up for SNL’s highly anticipated three-hour primetime anniversary special, scheduled for February 16, 2025. Fans will have to wait until March 1 for the next new episode, but Longfellow’s physical exertion and amusing behind-the-scenes anecdote are sure to keep *SNL* viewers entertained until then.

For Longfellow, it’s clear that comedy isn’t just about delivering lines and jokes—it also involves a whole lot of physical effort. Hopefully, the actor can rest up during the hiatus, because when the show returns, the laughs are sure to be just as intense as his workout on the *SNL* stage!
