Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards reveals the surprise impact on her sex life during breast cancer battle

Brenda Edwards, the beloved Loose Women panelist, has opened up about the personal transformation she experienced following her battle with breast cancer.

During Monday’s episode of the ITV talk show, the 55-year-old reflected on how undergoing chemotherapy in 2016 not only changed her physically

but also gave her a newfound sense of confidence—particularly in her intimate life.

Brenda Edwards on Regaining Confidence After Cancer

Brenda, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, shared her journey with co-hosts Ruth Langsford, Ayda Field, and Sally Dynevor

as they discussed whether women have a “sexual sell-by date.”

The conversation naturally led to Brenda’s personal revelation about how illness and recovery impacted her views on intimacy.

“The one thing that I will say is when I had my chemo, back in 2016, there was a period where I was really tired naturally because of the treatment I had,” she explained. “Then there was this new lease of life.”

Brenda went on to describe how her perspective on her body changed after completing treatment. “I was ready to explore my new body, I’m proud of my new body, and if somebody wants to explore that with me… come, let’s go!” she said with her signature humor and positivity.

Her candid remarks resonated with viewers, as she highlighted an often-overlooked aspect of recovery—reclaiming confidence and joy after overcoming a serious illness.

A Decade Cancer-Free and Embracing Life

Brenda, now cancer-free for 10 years, was diagnosed at the age of 46 after discovering a lump in her breast. She underwent six months of chemotherapy followed by a mastectomy. Since then, she has become an advocate for cancer awareness, often speaking about her experience and encouraging others to prioritize their health.

Back in October 2024, she reflected on how her diagnosis fundamentally changed her outlook on life. In an interview with The Mirror, Brenda explained:

“Having cancer changes anybody, because you face a life of uncertainty, so it does make you appreciate life every day. I’m very grateful for what life brings me. I’ve always been a go-getter but now I’m even more so. If you don’t try, you’ll never know. You might succeed, so I’ll try almost anything.”

Her determination and positive attitude have inspired many, as she continues to embrace life with renewed energy.

Sally Dynevor’s Different Experience with Breast Cancer

While Brenda found empowerment in her post-cancer journey, Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor shared that her experience was quite different. The 61-year-old, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, revealed that she initially struggled with confidence after treatment.

Speaking on Loose Women, she admitted, “I didn’t feel like that, Brenda. I lost a lot of confidence at that time, about myself.”

Sally, best known for playing Sally Webster on Coronation Street, underwent both chemotherapy and radiotherapy as part of her treatment. While she has since made a full recovery, she recalled how the emotional impact of the illness lingered.

“Luckily, I’m married to someone who has built my confidence up, and I’m much better now,” she said, referring to her husband, Tim Dynevor. “But it did take me a long time to feel good about myself again after going through something like that.”

When Ruth Langsford asked how long it took her to regain her confidence, Sally admitted, “A few years. It was a journey. It’s been 15 years. I’m much better now! I’m fitter now, and I’m better at accepting myself now than when I was.”

Finding Strength in Different Ways

Both Brenda and Sally’s stories highlight the diverse ways in which women experience life after cancer. While Brenda found empowerment and a revitalized sense of self, Sally took a longer time to rebuild her confidence. Their stories serve as a reminder that recovery is deeply personal, and everyone heals at their own pace.

Brenda’s openness about intimacy after illness sheds light on an important conversation about self-love and reclaiming one’s identity after a health battle. Meanwhile, Sally’s experience underscores the importance of support systems and patience during the healing process.

As both women continue to thrive, their experiences offer hope and encouragement to others facing similar challenges. Brenda’s message is clear—embrace life, be proud of your body, and never let anything dim your confidence.
