“I deeply sympathize and stand with the victims of Harvey Weinstein. I have never had any connection with him other than making films.
This is another example of the predatory and deceitful tactics he uses to lure women,” Lawrence Lawrence told People.
The 28-year-old star’s statement stems from a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles (USA) a day earlier, accusing the “Hollywood mogul” of sexually assaulting actress Jane Doe in 2013.
In her filing, Jane Doe detailed that the 66-year-old producer bragged about sleeping with Jennifer Lawrence and helping her win an Oscar.
Weinstein’s spokesperson denied the allegations in court.
“Mr. Weinstein is embarrassed for actress Lawrence, with whom he has a purely professional relationship and the utmost respect,
to be dragged into these defamatory fabrications,” Harvey Weinstein’s representative said.
Harvey Weinstein was a producer on the hit film Silver Linings Playbook, which helped the blonde star win an Oscar for Best Actress in 2012. In February this year, in an interview with CBS, Jennifer Lawrence said when she first heard about the Harvey Weinstein scandal: “What he did was a despicable crime. I want to kill him. The way he ruined the lives of those women, I want him to go to jail.”
The famous filmmaker has not yet admitted to any criminal charges related to the sexual assaults in New York. He is also under investigation for criminal charges in California.
