The film industry, and specifically the Hollywood industry, continues to fight for certain rights and to speak out against the injustices that can be committed in the workplace.

One of them is the well-known ‘ageism’, or age discrimination.

To a greater extent, this affects veteran actresses, as it is increasingly difficult for them to obtain a role, the choice of which is relegated to younger performers.

This was of great concern to one of today’s most famous actresses, Anne Hathaway.

The performer, who has participated in such famous and successful productions as ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (2006) or ‘The Dark Knight: The Legend Reborn’ (2012),

gave an interview to Porter Magazine where she revealed her fear that she could also be a victim of age discrimination in her work.

“When I started out as a child, I was warned that my career could collapse at 35. It’s something I know a lot of women face. Things have evolved and there are more and more women with deeper careers in their lives at that age, which I think is fantastic,” said Hathaway.

In the words of the performer, she considers that there is still a long way to go and many struggles to be won for something to change in the Hollywood industry: “There is much to be proud of, but also much to fix”. Actresses such as Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman have also complained about this situation.

Finally, Hathaway said she was proud to be part of the lives of film lovers who have seen one of her films: “It’s such a sweet feeling to know that you are present in the lives of moviegoers. I can’t describe what an honour it is to be in the moments when people need comfort. It makes me really excited about my journey as an actress who has connected with people. I love when projects have a life beyond their premiere”.
