Jack Blocker received a golden ticket to Hollywood after trying out for the singing competition months ago. Now, he has a chance to win the whole thing.

Monday night’s performance at American Airlines Center isn’t the only opportunity to see Blocker live this week. 

Blocker will also be performing a 45-minute set at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Strauss Square, 2389 Flora St. in Dallas. For tickets and more information, click here.

Well before American Idol came calling, Jack grew up in the North Texas area. 

He went to school at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison and that’s where he met, and later married, his wife, Georgia.

The self-taught folk singer-songwriter with a love for vintage took a chance on an Idol tryout late last year. 

The family tells WFAA Jack Blocker was the second to last audition from the Nashville area. Two of the three judges initially voted against Jack moving forward in the competition.

“He walked all the way back. They were taking off his mic. It was over,” Truman said. 

That is, until the production crew chimed in and called for a re-vote. Jack got his second shot, and with it, a golden ticket to Hollywood.

“I came back out and I was still trying to process that I lost,” Jack Blocker recalled.

His parents and his three sisters have plenty to be proud of. Blocker is living his dream and the world now gets to watch him on his journey.

“We are so proud but not because he’s in the spotlight. We’re just proud of him…like his character,” said his mother.
