Emmy Russell’s evolution has been one of the top stories on this season of “American Idol,” and that is a story that will undoubtably continue.

Found herself as one of the final three remaining contestants on the stage Sunday night alongside Jack Blocker and Triston Harper.

Only one could join Will Moseley and Abi Carter in the final three, and that one turned out to be Blocker bringing an end to a remarkable run for Russell and Harper.

A 15-year-old who showed he could be a star, too, on this season.

Russell battled nerves from the start of the season, gradually coming out of her shell each week. Along the way, she showed that she was a talented songwriter and signer.

Still, despite her talent, her famous bloodlines made her a polarizing contestant in the eyes of the fans. And, without a doubt, her country music connection — that is a large and loyal audience — made her a favorite to get to the finals so seeing her cut was a bit of a shocker.
