Russell battled nerves from the start of the season, gradually coming out of her shell each week. Along the way, she showed that she was a talented songwriter and signer.
Still, despite her talent, her famous bloodlines made her a polarizing contestant in the eyes of the fans. And, without a doubt, her country music connection — that is a large and loyal audience — made her a favorite to get to the finals so seeing her cut was a bit of a shocker.
