Anne Hathaway’s new rom-com, The Idea Of You, is making waves for its music and unconventional love story.

This film stars Anne Hathaway as Solene Marchand, a 40-year-old single mother who finds unexpected romance at Coachella with Hayes Campbell,

a young member of the boy band August Moon, played by Nicholas Galitzine. Despite a significant age difference of 16 years,

their love story blossoms in a whirlwind of emotions. However, that is not the most surprising element of the film.

What might impress you about the new release is that the fictional boy band August Moon, featured in the Prime Video movie, has a separate fanbase now.

The fictional band August Moon has made quite an impression beyond the movie screen, officially breaking into the music scene with their debut on Billboard’s charts.

The film’s soundtrack, credited to August Moon, earned the group its first entry on the Billboard charts dated May 18. It debuted at No. 7 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 11 on the Soundtracks chart, accumulating 5,000 equivalent album units in the United States from May 3 to May 9, according to data from Luminate.

On the following week’s charts dated May 25, the soundtrack placed at numbers 10 and 18 on these rankings, respectively.

Despite being a fictional band, August Moon’s music is very real and has also found a following on Spotify. The group boasts over half a million monthly listeners on the platform, with current figures showing 6,86,000 monthly listeners, as per Forbes. Their track Dance Before We Walk is approaching two million streams on Spotify, making it the group’s most popular song. Other tracks such as Closer, Guard Down and Taste have also achieved impressive streaming numbers, with Closer nearing one million streams and the latter two having surpassed the half-million play mark, reports Forbes.

At one point, four of August Moon’s songs were reportedly ranked inside the top 100 on the U.S. iTunes chart. The members of August Moon, as portrayed in the film, include Nicholas Galitzine as Hayes Campbell, Dakota Adan as Rory, Jaiden Anthony as Adrian, Raymond Cham as Oliver and Vik White as Simon. Their performances and the chemistry within the group add to the film’s appeal, making the band a memorable part of the storyline.

The Idea of You is adapted from the bestselling novel by Robinne Lee, which itself draws inspiration from fan fiction centred around the popular singer Harry Styles. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 2, 2024.
