Hathaway, who stars with Nicholas Galitzine in ‘The Idea of You,’ is mom to two sons with her husband of 11 years, actor and jewelry designer Shulman

While Anne Hathaway has over two decades of movie experience under her very fashionable belt, she may be just getting started.

More than 20 years after her breakout role in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, the 41-year-old actress is winning audiences’ hearts again

with her new role opposite Nicholas Galitzine in Amazon Studios’ popular rom-com The Idea of You.

Currently filming the sci-fi movie Flowervale Street in Atlanta, the mom of two sons, Jonathan, 8, and Jack, 4, “seems great and just very focused on work.

She films for a few days straight and then goes home,” says a source.

“She and [husband Adam Shulman] are great,” another Hathaway source adds. “They seem to have a very happy marriage. He’s a cool guy and a fun dad. When Anne films, he’s in charge of their sons and does a great job. They enjoy solo date nights and have a big group of friends. Anne often says that she feels very lucky to be married to Adam.”

Hathaway has had no shortage of starring roles in recent months, including in 2023’s She Came to Me and Eileen. Aside from The Idea of You (which she also produced), she also appears in this year’s Mothers’ Instinct opposite Jessica Chastain.

Despite being active on Instagram, the actress only joined TikTok earlier in May. Her first post was a cute video montage of what she has been up to since 2020, from film to fashion and much in between.

As the clip concluded with Hathaway’s recent high points, including her trip to the SXSW Film Festival in Austin and the April 29 premiere of The Idea of You, she shared an extra bit of footage, announcing one thing she hadn’t accomplished: “I forgot to join TikTok!”

Aside from being a continual big-screen success, Hathaway has been happily raising her family alongside Shulman.

“I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom,” the actress told WSJ Magazine in March 2022, in part, explaining, “It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word.”

The actress married actor/jewelry designer Shulman, 43, in September 2012. And while the two don’t often make public appearances together, they enjoyed a date night at the National Board of Review Gala in New York City in January.

Hathaway, who has matching tattoos with Shulman, said during a 2023 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show that she and her husband are “really just lucky that we keep growing together.”

“I don’t expect him to complete me and he doesn’t expect me to complete him,” she added. “I’m my own person he’s his own person and we choose to be together because we believe we make each other better, and this union is something we both want to participate in.”

Adapted from Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel of the same name and directed by Michael Showalter, The Idea of You is a romance about single mom Solène Marchand (played by Hathaway) who falls in love with famous 20-something pop star Hayes Campbell (played by Galitzine, 29) after a chance meeting at Coachella.

According to Hathaway, The Idea of You tells “the story of a woman blooming,” as she told PEOPLE during the film’s SXSW premiere in March.

Reflecting on the overarching story, she added, “I don’t know why we don’t have more stories about human beings blooming at any age. We’re always coming of age, all the time.”
