Hollywood stars are known for their grace and composure, but even under the bright lights, celebrities are human after all.

In one such experience, Anne Hathaway shed some light on a surprising moment with her co-star Hugh Jackman.

The two stars worked together in 2012’s “Les Miserables”, a musical drama based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo.

Known for his friendliness and professionalism, even Jackman once lost his cool while shooting the movie.

During the 2018 Hollywood Film Award ceremony, Hugh Jackman won the award for Best Actor for The Front Runner.

He was presented the award by Anne Hathaway, who had a fun story about Jackman to share with the fans.

“In case you haven’t noticed anarchy is the order of the day. So let’s flip the script,” said Hathaway. “I once saw Hugh Jackman, the nicest guy in Hollywood, lose his sh*t.”

While shooting the rehearsals of Les Miserables with director Tom Hooper, Hathaway and Jackman were physically exhausted due to the long hours.

“We had been at it for hours and were long past the point of exhaustion, in that particular place only Tom Hooper or childbirth can get you,”

During a break, she saw how Jackman looked “stormy” and gave a “thousand-mile stare”. She asked Jackman if everything was alright. However, Jackman’s response was uncalled for, who gritted his teeth to say “Annie, it’s a lot”. 

“I knew I had to say something so I said, ‘Are you okay man?’ ” Hathaway recalled. “Hugh drew in a ragged, powerful breath, locked his gaze on mine and said through gritted teeth, ‘Annie, it’s a lot.’ “

However, Hathaway playfully joked around that it was “the worst behavior (she) have seen from Hugh Jackman,”. The situation could be as worse as it gets, however, the lowest Jackman can ever go is to mutter “It’s a lot.”

“I tell the story to make the point, as much as you would like to flip the script on Hugh Jackman, you can’t,” said Hathaway. “He has never, not once, used his artistry to get away with being a jerk.”

The Interstellar actor also revealed that Jackman did not make any excuse for his exhaustion and continued working on the script like the champ he is.

Les Misérables is a film adaptation of a beloved stage musical, which itself is based on a classic novel by Victor Hugo. The story follows Jean Valjean, a man released from prison after a long sentence. As he tries to re-enter society, he’s constantly hounded by his past.

The story unfolds against the backdrop of a tumultuous time in French history. Lush sets and powerful music bring the world of the novel to life. The cast was as splendid as it gets including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen, with Samantha Barks, Aaron Tveit, and Daniel Huttlestone.

The movie was nominated for eight Oscars including the Best Actor (Hugh Jackman). Les Miserables eventually won three of these eight awards namely Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Supporting Actress. This was Anne Hathaway’s only Oscar win and all the hard work she did while shooting for the role was eventually worth it.
