Comeback makeup! We haven’t seen much of Anne Hathaway on the red carpet recently, but at last night’s NYC premiere of The Intern,
she reminded us all of her A-list status with help from some fierce metallic eyes.
“Anne’s black-and-sapphire dress inspired me to emphasize her expressive eyes,” explains celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, who created the look.
The challenge: Hathaway requested that Dempsey only use natural makeup.
The solution: She went with a lip color from the new Honest Beauty line (the Truly Kissable Lipstick Crayon in Blossom Kiss) and eye makeup from Votre Vu,
a cult favorite among makeup artists that uses high-quality botanical ingredients.
She began by defining Hathaway’s lash and water lines with two different shades of Votre Vu Le Joli Eye Crayon—black on the top and bottom, and Azure,
a deep cerulean blue, below the lashes. “To build intensity, I brushed two shadows from the Votre Vu Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad in Violette across her lids and under her eyes,” she says. Goes to show that natural makeup doesn’t have to look any less glamorous. If you’ve been meaning to go more natural with your makeup, here’s further inspiration: a new photo of Honest
