We’re over a year into the Anne Hathaway fashion Renaissance and the actor hasn’t stopped giving us serve after serve. Met Gala? Nailed it.
A fresh-off-the-runway Versace dress? Of course she looked good. A balletcore manicure with an all-denim outfit? Ate it up. And an Andy Sachs-inspired outfit?
The world literally stopped. Her latest look was no different.
On December 4, Hathaway jetted off to London for the 2023 Fashion Awards.
Walking the red carpet alongside fashion legends like Kate Moss and watching major names like Paloma Elsesser, Martine Rose.
And Charlotte Tilbury be honored with prestigious fashion awards.
For the event, the actor wore a vintage Haute Couture Valentino gown inspired by spaghetti—yes, the pasta dish—with its noodle-shaped rows of fabric.
However, although the dress alone is a headline-maker, we couldn’t take our eyes off her shimmering, pearly manicure.
Each of Hathaway’s nails was a gorgeous, pearly, shimmery hue. Short and natural-shaped, her nails had a base color of plain white that was similar to the color of her dress. On top of the simple base, each was finished with an iridescent, slightly metallic finish that mirrored the pearls dangling at the ends of her spaghetti fringe.
Her nails resemble the mother of pearl nail trend that picked up earlier this year, just with a more solid white base layer. Heather Reynosa, OPI’s Director of Global Education, previously told us that the “trend is all about color travel and dimension in soft shimmers, sheer chromes, and iridescence.” Continuing on, “It’s a fabulous play on the glazed donut nail and takes it a step further with a color shift into translucent pinks, greens, and aqua blue reflections.”
Although a vintage Valentino gown isn’t in the cards for most of us, a pearly manicure like Hathaway’s is surprisingly easy to copy at home.
First, remove any lingering polish on your nails with nail polish remover. Then, cut and file your nails to the desired length before applying oil to your cuticles to soften and push them back. Then, wipe your nails clean and buff the surface for an even canvas.
After that, it’s time for color. First, you will want to paint all your nails with your favorite white nail polish—we like Essie Blanc ($9). After that, grab a bright white powder highlighter or white shimmery eyeshadow and dust it on top of the dried white polish.
Once shimmering, seal it in with your favorite top coat and add a dollop of nail oil for nail health. Then, you will look as good as spaghetti tastes.
