Anne responds to the reports that she left the final scene filming of “The Idea of You”

The chemistry between Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine in The Idea of You is truly rare. The pair found something exceptionally unique through the process of filming the project;

companionship. They found a friendship and understanding that few co-stars have encountered throughout their career and this is reflected in the interviews they give.

One of the most recent examples is when the actress was talking about filming the last scene of the movie. It would seem that this day of shooting was particularly difficult for her.

However, she was able to get through it thanks to Galitzine.

The Last Day on Set Became a Nightmare for Anne Hathaway

Recently, Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine gave an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where they went into great detail about the filming process of The Idea of You.

The actress specifically talked about the last day of filming and how difficult it was for her.

It would seem that that by the end of filming, she had come down with some kind of illness, that was making it difficult for her to work at her usual pace.

“The most difficult scene for me was that ending, just because it was the end of shoot and I’d gotten really, really sick,” Hathaway reveals. “I was not just running on empty, I’d eaten the tank, and I was just physically [doing] poorly, and I didn’t know how I was going to do it. Nick was such a rock.”

She mentioned that no matter how hard she was trying, how much she was hydrating, and how much she was eating, nothing seemed to help. Hathaway then went on to reveal that the only thing that was helping her get through the shoot was Galitzine’s presence.

“we didn’t know if we were going to even be able to finish the day, because I was doing so badly.”

He seemed to have really been there for her, during a time when she was convinced that she would not be able to shoot all day. However, instead of pushing shooting for another day just to film one scene, Michael Showalter took a different approach.

A Final Burst of Energy

Anne Hathaway then went on to reveal that the director of the film, Michael Showalter, came up with the perfect idea to help her push through the final scenes of filming. Since the scene was non-verbal and the conversation and sound did not matter, the director turned on the music and started to record.

“And Michael said, ‘I know what to do,’” Hathaway says. “He turned on a piece of music right as he yelled action — because it was a nonverbal part — and [Galitzine] just poured energy in me. I was in the moment and I had exactly enough left for whatever was happening, and I just needed to not blow it. And you just carried us through that and you were so wonderful and you gave me so much to react to.”

This was followed by Nicholas Galitzine hyping the actress up so that she could get a last burst of energy. The two’s efforts ended up working, and the actress found it in herself to power through one more take. She was able to finish filming. The motivation and energy were also channeled into her performance, allowing her to truly give it all.
