Anne was furious when reporters uncovered her son’s shocking secret: “Why must they pry into others’ secrets?”

Head to Anne Hathaway’s Instagram and you won’t find a single photo of her children.

The Academy award winning actress is determined to keep her private life just that – telling Net-A-Porter’s digital title Porter that since having children,

she wants to ensure they’re kept out of the spotlight.

“I’m on a team, it’s my family, and it’s not just about me,” explains Hathaway,

who lives in New York with her husband, Adam Shulman, and their two young sons Jack, 3, and Jonathan, 7.

“My family has needs, and one of the needs of children is that they need to be able to define their own lives.”

The 41-year-old says she wants her children and career to always be kept separate.

“It doesn’t even occur to me to link the two up, except through gratitude that they serve each other so beautifully. But they serve each other through me, and not through a space that’s outside of myself.”

Hathaway joins a growing number of celebrities who are choosing to keep their children out of the spotlight.

But her boys aren’t the only thing she’s passionate about as a parent – she wants other mothers to start appreciating their body for what it can do to have children.

“People don’t talk about this and it really made me feel better when I found out about it,” Hathaway told PEOPLE. “It takes three years for your body to fully recover from a pregnancy.”

She adds, “I didn’t snap back. I want to be very, very clear about that. With my second, it took every minute of those three years. And it’s cool. Let your body be a body.”

Hathaway admits since having children, it’s not just her body that has changed – her whole perspective on work has shifted.

Speaking on The Jess Cagle Show she said, “That’s kind of re-prioritised everything, so it’s actually made me a bit choosier because something really has to be so excellent to spend time away from them because they’re so precious to me.”

The working mum goes on to admit, like many mums, she struggles with the emotional juggle.

“When I do accept something, it puts greater pressure on me to make it worth the time that I’ve spent away from them.”

She might be a global superstar but Hathaway proves the issues facing most mums aren’t lost on her either.
