Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer has left fans guessing about her future on the hit BBC show.
During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, she and fellow dancer Gorka Marquez remained tight-lipped
when asked about their return for the 2025 series, sparking speculation about the show’s professional line-up.
Karen Hauer Keeps Fans Guessing on GMB
During their interview with Good Morning Britain hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway, Karen and Gorka were quizzed about their potential return for the next season of Strictly.
When Richard pressed Karen on whether she would be part of the 2025 line-up, she responded with a knowing smile but refused to give a definitive answer.
Sensing an opportunity, Richard playfully remarked, “I’ll take that as a yes.” However, Kate pushed further, asking, “Oh, you’re not sure? You don’t know?”
Karen, still keeping her cards close to her chest, replied, “I can’t say. I don’t know!”
Meanwhile, Gorka, who has been a professional on Strictly for several years, weighed in on the uncertainty surrounding their future on the show. Referring to the programme’s producers, he said, “Only they know.”
Despite the uncertainty, both Karen and Gorka expressed their enthusiasm about potentially returning. Gorka praised the long-running series, stating, “Of course, it’s the best entertainment show on telly, you know?”
Speculation Over Strictly Line-Up Changes
Karen’s ambiguous response comes amid speculation that Strictly Come Dancing may undergo significant changes to its roster of professional dancers. Reports have suggested that multiple established dancers could be at risk of being axed as part of a shake-up ahead of the next season.
Among those rumoured to be on the chopping block are Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, Katya Jones, Nadiya Bychkova, and Neil Jones. These reports gained traction following an article from Express Online in November, which indicated that decisions about the future cast would largely depend on performances in the 2024 series.
According to an insider, the selection process for Strictly’s professional dancers is based on a combination of performance success and the show’s evolving needs.
“The review of the line-up has always been about making a fresh start, and that was always going to be affected by which dancers performed well this series,” the source claimed.
The insider added that there has been a growing perception within the show that some of its long-standing professionals are fading stars, while others are rising talents.
“The feeling is that the Strictly troupe is made up of some fading stars, while others are rising stars. And in many cases, there are certain characters whose shoes can easily be filled with younger, up-and-coming counterparts,” the source explained.
This speculation was seemingly validated when Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova became the first professional dancer to exit the show. Neil Jones and Karen Hauer reportedly followed soon after, while Katya Jones made it to Blackpool Week before being eliminated alongside her celebrity partner, Wynne Evans.
“Of the five names in the mix, almost all of them went out in the first half of the series, which is very much seen as a landmark point for Strictly,” the insider continued.
What This Means for Karen Hauer and Gorka Marquez
If the rumours prove true, Karen Hauer’s future on Strictly Come Dancing remains uncertain. The Venezuelan-born dancer has been part of the Strictly family since 2012 and is the show’s longest-serving female professional. Given her popularity and experience, some fans may be surprised if she does not return.
Meanwhile, Gorka Marquez, who joined the show in 2016, has also been a fan-favourite, particularly after reaching the final multiple times with celebrity partners such as Alexandra Burke, Helen Skelton, and Gemma Atkinson, who later became his fiancée.
While the BBC has yet to confirm any official decisions regarding the 2025 Strictly line-up, Karen and Gorka’s comments on Good Morning Britain suggest that even they are in the dark about their futures.
BBC Yet to Address Speculation
As anticipation builds for Strictly Come Dancing’s next season, fans are eager for official announcements regarding the show’s professional dancers. BBC bosses have yet to issue a statement addressing the speculation surrounding potential line-up changes.
With Strictly known for keeping casting decisions under wraps until closer to the season’s premiere, viewers may have to wait a little longer to find out if Karen Hauer and Gorka Marquez will be returning to the ballroom.
For now, Strictly fans will have to keep guessing—just as Karen playfully intended.
