Wynne Evans has broken his social media silence to show support for one of his fellow Strictly Come Dancing co-stars following his decision to step away from the show’s live tour.

The opera singer, who became a fan favorite during the BBC One dance competition last year, was originally partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones. 

Their journey on the 2024 series came to an end following the highly anticipated Blackpool special, which took place just weeks before the grand finale.

After their elimination, Wynne and Katya found solace in knowing that they would reunite for the Strictly Come Dancing Live 2025 tour. 

The nationwide event, which began in January and concluded on February 9, saw several of the season’s stars hit the stage once again. 

Alongside Wynne and Katya, the tour featured Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri, 

actress Sarah Hadland, JLS singer JB Gill, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, The X Factor winner Shayne Ward, and Gladiators star Montell Douglas.

However, just days into the tour, Wynne made the unexpected decision to step back from his commitments. On January 28, only 11 days after the tour’s opening night in Liverpool, he announced his departure. This decision came after he apologized for an ‘inappropriate’ remark made during the tour’s launch, prompting him to take a temporary break from public engagements.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Wynne expressed his need to focus on his well-being, stating, “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritize my wellbeing.”

Now, for the first time since stepping back, Wynne has taken to social media to congratulate Tasha Ghouri, who, along with her professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec, emerged as the overall winner of the Strictly Live 2025 tour. The pair won the hearts of live audiences across the UK and were awarded the most Glitterball trophies throughout the tour’s run.

Following her triumph, Tasha took to Instagram to celebrate, sharing photos of herself and Aljaz holding their coveted Glitterball trophies. She wrote: “Winners of the @strictlycomedancinglive tour!! 24 glitterballs, 35 arenas, a month of travelling around the UK & I get to take the trophy home. After 6 months of strictly… this chapter has come to an end, but they all say good things come to an end. What an absolute whirlwind it has been, I really am going to miss this but here’s to more dancing in the future because it doesn’t end here!”

Tasha also expressed her gratitude towards her dance partner, writing: “@aljazskorjanec lifting that trophy up with you just finished off our journey in the best way. Dancing with you every day on tour has just been magical, fun & I’m going to miss not being in a ballroom frame moving across that floor with you. Thank you for everything. I’ve made great friendships & memories I’ll cherish forever. Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch and voted! Means the world, thank you for all of your cheers, signs, smiles and all the sparkles you all brought.”

Wynne showed his support for Tasha by commenting, “Well done lovely lady. Xxxx.” Katya Jones also expressed her admiration, writing, “So wonderful to get to watch you dance every day on your tour!!! So well deserved.”

Fellow Strictly professional Carlos Gu added, “Well done girl, well deserved!!” while dancer Nancy Xu enthusiastically wrote, “Yesssssssssssssssssssss my LEO girlllll.” Aljaz himself chimed in, saying, “Magical… all of it! Can’t wait for the next 5,6,7,8…”

While Wynne may have had to step away from the tour, his public support for his co-stars proves that the Strictly Come Dancing family remains close-knit. His message to Tasha highlights the camaraderie and encouragement among the show’s contestants and professionals, reinforcing the positive spirit of the beloved dance competition.
