Ben Stiller doesn’t take wife Christine Taylor’s love ‘for granted’ after reconciliation

Ben Stiller is expressing his deep appreciation for his second chance at love with his wife, Christine Taylor.

After a five-year separation that began in 2017, the couple reconciled in 2022, and Stiller is making sure to cherish every moment together.

In a recent interview on *The View*, the 59-year-old actor reflected on their decision to get back together, stressing how much he values their relationship

and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

“We do not take it for granted – at least, I know I don’t,” Stiller shared candidly.

“Because you know it could go away, and that to me is the gift for our relationship, is that we have that every day.”

The actor, who is well known for his roles in *Meet the Parents* and *Zoolander*, opened up about how grateful he is to have reunited with Taylor, gushing that he “really is so happy” that they made the decision to reconcile.

Stiller and Taylor, who celebrated 25 years of marriage, first met on the set of *Heat Vision and Jack* in 1999. They tied the knot in 2000, becoming one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. However, after 17 years together, they announced their separation in 2017. In a joint statement, the couple emphasized their mutual love and respect, adding that their focus would remain on raising their two children, daughter Ella (22) and son Quinlin (19). Despite their separation, they never filed for divorce, maintaining a strong and amicable bond.

Looking back on their separation and eventual reconciliation, Stiller admitted that he isn’t entirely sure how it all came together, aside from both of them deciding they wanted it. “We’ve been married for 25 years, and you know you have to work at it,” he explained. “COVID happened, and we all got in a house together with our family, and I don’t know, I’m just grateful.” During the pandemic, the couple found themselves living under the same roof with their children, and it was this time spent together that allowed them to reconnect and reassess what truly mattered.

Stiller acknowledged that relationships require ongoing effort and that they learned more about each other during their time apart. In fact, he said that their reconciliation helped them both understand each other more deeply, particularly the ways in which they are similar and the ways they differ. “You can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to get them to change for you,” Stiller noted, adding that acceptance had been key to their renewed bond.

During the *The View* appearance, co-host Joy Behar, who has spoken about her own experiences with divorce, offered her perspective on relationships. She suggested that taking responsibility for one’s own actions instead of placing blame on the other person can be helpful. While Stiller humorously downplayed this advice, saying he has “an amazing wife,” it’s clear that mutual respect and understanding have been central to their relationship.

Stiller and Taylor’s journey is a testament to the resilience of their bond and their ability to evolve together. Their story demonstrates how, even after years apart, there’s still hope for reconciliation when both people are willing to put in the work. Reflecting on their reunion, Stiller is filled with gratitude and joy, feeling fortunate to have another chance at building a future together.

In 2022, Stiller spoke to *Esquire* about the evolution of their relationship, describing it as “wonderful” and “unexpected.” He acknowledged that the time apart had brought new insights and a greater respect for each other. Their journey has been a reminder that love isn’t always easy, but when two people are committed to growth and understanding, the bond can be even stronger than before.

As Stiller and Taylor continue to navigate this new chapter of their life, their story serves as a powerful reminder to not take love for granted. Through their journey, they’ve learned that appreciating each day together, accepting one another’s flaws, and maintaining respect are the building blocks of a lasting and fulfilling relationship.
