Ben Stiller finally reveals how he won back wife Christine Taylor’s heart after 3 year separation

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor’s relationship has had its ups and downs, but the couple has found their way back to each other after a long period of separation.

The couple, who had been married for 17 years, announced their separation in 2017, leaving many fans wondering if their union was over for good.

However, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Stiller, 59,

opened up about the reasons behind their separation, their time apart, and the journey that led them to rekindle their relationship.

Taking Time Apart for Reflection

Stiller revealed that their decision to separate in 2017 was an opportunity for both of them to take some space and reflect on their relationship.

He explained that stepping away from each other allowed him to gain a better understanding of what he valued most. “When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was, what my life felt like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family unit,” he shared. For Stiller, the separation was not an end, but rather a way to gain perspective.

During the three to four years they spent apart, Stiller emphasized that they maintained a strong emotional connection. “In my mind, I never didn’t want us to be together,” he said. Although Christine’s perspective on the separation is unknown, Stiller’s sentiment indicates that he always held onto the hope of reuniting with her.

Reconnection During the Pandemic

The turning point in their relationship came when Stiller moved back in with Taylor during the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple, who share two children — Ella, 22, and Quinlin, 19 — had to navigate the challenges of the pandemic as a family. This time together in close quarters became the catalyst for their reconciliation. Stiller recalled that it wasn’t until they spent nearly a year living under the same roof before they actually got back together as a couple.

“It was almost a year of living in the same house before we were actually together again,” Stiller reflected. Their shared commitment to their children and the changes brought about by the pandemic ultimately provided the space for them to rediscover each other. The time apart had allowed them both to grow, and this period of reestablishing their connection brought them closer.

Changing Perspectives on Marriage

As Stiller and Taylor rekindled their relationship, Stiller noted that his views on marriage and relationships had shifted. In a previous interview with Esquire in 2022, he shared that their reunion was a “wonderful” and unexpected outcome, especially considering the challenges of the past few years. Stiller used an analogy involving horseback riding to explain how his approach to marriage had evolved. “A few years ago, I realized I don’t like horseback riding. If there’s an opportunity to go horseback riding, I’m probably not going to do it. Now, I like horses! I think they’re beautiful. I like petting them,” he said.

This analogy highlights how Stiller learned to appreciate the differences between him and his partner. He acknowledged that, just like his newfound love for horses, understanding and respecting the things they liked and disliked about each other made their relationship stronger. By accepting these differences, they were able to appreciate each other more, and ultimately, that understanding helped them reunite.

Staying Focused on Family

At the heart of Stiller and Taylor’s reconciliation is their shared dedication to their family. The couple’s priority throughout their separation and reunion has always been their children. Despite their romantic separation, both Stiller and Taylor made sure to continue raising their children together, maintaining a strong co-parenting relationship. Their focus on being devoted parents helped them navigate the challenges they faced and remain connected, even when they were not a couple.

Stiller and Taylor’s relationship also serves as a reminder of the importance of communication, understanding, and growth in marriage. After years of marriage and some time apart, the couple rediscovered their connection through patience and reflection. Their story is a testament to the idea that relationships can evolve, and sometimes, taking space can help people understand each other better.

Looking Ahead

Today, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor appear to be in a stronger place than ever. Their time apart allowed them to reflect on what truly mattered in their relationship and to fall in love again in a new way. As they continue to raise their children and enjoy their life together, it’s clear that their bond has been redefined in a meaningful way.

Their journey shows that even after significant challenges, relationships can thrive if both parties are willing to grow and understand each other more deeply. For Stiller and Taylor, the pandemic, which brought so many challenges to families worldwide, ended up being a defining moment for their marriage. With a renewed sense of connection and understanding, the couple looks forward to the future — stronger than ever.
