Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, the world-renowned singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, has announced that her charitable organization, BeyGOOD, will be granting scholarships to several students at Georgia State University (GSU).
The scholarships are part of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund, which aims to support Black-owned small businesses and Black students pursuing higher education.
The fund was launched in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the racial justice movement.
The recipients of the scholarships will be selected from the areas of music, creative arts, literature, and African American studies at GSU.
The scholarships will cover the tuition and fees for one academic year, starting from the fall 2024 semester.
The students will also receive mentorship and career guidance from BeyGOOD and its partners. The application process will open in May 2024 and the winners will be announced in August 2024.
Beyoncé has expressed her passion for empowering the next generation of leaders and creators, especially those from underrepresented communities. She has said, “I am honored to partner with Georgia State University, a school that has a rich history of academic excellence and social justice. I hope that these scholarships will inspire and support the students to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in the world.”
GSU President Mark Becker has thanked Beyoncé and BeyGOOD for their generosity and vision. He has said, “We are grateful to Beyoncé and BeyGOOD for their recognition of the talent and potential of our students. This is a tremendous opportunity for them to advance their education and careers, and to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of our society.”
