It seems like no matter what Beyoncé does with her kids, she’s going to be judged for it, and this is another one of those times. 

After Beyoncé’s “legacy”-themed cover and photo spread for Essence magazine went live over the weekend.

Fans got a peek at a picture including the generations of women in her family, from mom Tina Knowles down to her youngest daughter, Rumi. 

But now, she’s facing backlash for not including son Sir in the photos because he’s part of her legacy, too.

Beyoncé is the cover celebrity for the March/April 2024 issue of Essence magazine, and as always, Queen Bey brought her A-game — the photos included in the spread are stunning.

In the magazine, she discusses the legacy of Black hair just as she launches her new hair care brand, Cécred.

In one of the photos from the shoot that Essence has shared on Instagram, we can see Beyoncé’s family lined up and doing each other’s hair, starting with Tina combing her daughter’s curls down to 12-year-old Blue Ivy applying oil to her 6-year-old little sister Rumi’s braids.

After an account called Joy Daily shared the spread in a video, fans are commenting, wondering where Sir is.

“Isn’t her son a part legacy the twin the boy what’s wrong with him that he hidden sorry true !!! How could not put your son in photo !!!” one person wrote.

Another commenter wrote, “Did her son die or what ??? The other twin ain’t never been seen !!!”

When Beyoncé’s fam is out in public, it’s usually Blue Ivy we see with her — and occasionally, Rumi, who joined them at the Super Bowl this year. We don’t see Sir out and about much, but there are a lot of potential reasons for that. After all, he’s still very young, and he may not like being the center of attention when he goes out, which is hard to avoid considering who his parents are.

But as long as all three of her children are loved and cared for — most of which is going to be happening behind the scenes — that’s all that matters. And as far as a photo of the women in her family goes, the shot from Essence is definitely worth framing!
