Beyoncé’s suppressed childhood helped her develop patience in her music career: “I have to thank those who b.u.l.l.i.e.d me because they taught me not to care about others’ opinions” (video)

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles, also known by her stage name Beyoncé, is a famous American singer, dancer and music producer.

Not only possessing a powerful voice and attractive appearance, the “Queen Bee” also impresses with her talent in all fields.

Beyoncé is considered an icon of the global music industry, and is one of the faces that contributed to changing this rigid industry forever.

Ever since she was a child, Beyoncé has shown her passion and natural talent for dancing while attending dance classes at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Houston.

The singer’s singing talent was discovered when her dance instructor, Darlette Johnson, hummed a song and Beyoncé completed it with her soaring voice.

At age seven, she entered and won a talent show with a cover of John Lennon’s Imagine

When Beyoncé was eight, she and her childhood friend Kelly Rowland met LaTavia Roberson at an audition for an upcoming girl group.

Thanks to her powerful voice, the singer was selected and began her music career as part of Girl’s Tyme.

After seeing them, R&B producer Arne Frager decided to bring them to his studio in Northern California and enter the group on Star Search, the biggest talent show on national television at the time. Unfortunately, the group was eliminated in the preliminary round of the competition.

Over the next few years, Girl’s Tyme would change their name to Something Fresh, Cliché, the Dolls, and Destiny. The group was signed to Elektra Records, but they dropped out just months before their album was released.

In 1996, they changed their name to Destiny’s Child, a name taken from a passage in the book of Isaiah.

That same year, Destiny’s Child officially recorded their debut single, Killing Time, which was featured on the soundtrack for the film Men in Black. A year later, the group released their debut album, No, No, No.

The album earned them three Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, including Best R&B/Soul Single, Best R&B/Soul Album of the Year, and Most Promising R&B/Soul/Rap Artist.

Soon, the group truly reached the pinnacle of their musical career after releasing their second album, The Writing’s on the Wall in 1999.

The album featured several popular songs, including Bills, Bills, Bills, the first single from their second album, Jumpin’ Jumpin, and Say My Name.

In particular, the song Say My Name won Destiny’s Child the Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song awards at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

It was thought that after the resounding success of the album The Writing’s on the Wall, Destiny’s Child would continue to conquer new musical heights, but the group was caught up in internal conflicts.

After the conflict, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson chose to leave Destiny’s Child. Not long after, Michelle Williams was recruited into the group and Destiny’s Child continued to operate as a three-member lineup.

Soon after, the group quickly returned to the music track with their third album, Survivor, around the end of 2000. Beyoncé was the one who co-produced and composed almost the entire album this time.

The album topped the Billboard 200 chart with more than 663 thousand copies sold in just the first week of release. In addition, Survivor was certified four times Platinum in the United States and twice Platinum in Australia.

Three years after taking a hiatus from musical activities together, the members of Destiny’s Child recorded their final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, before officially ending all activities under the group’s name.

It is known that this album is aimed at the street music genre and all the songs were produced and written by each member.

After a long journey together, the girls had a meaningful stage to say their final farewell to their fans in 2006. Beyoncé announced to thousands of spectators at the NBA All-Star Game stage:

“This will be our last album, but please understand that it was never the last journey of Destiny’s Child.”

Many years have passed, but Destiny’s Child has always been mentioned by the public and experts as one of the most successful American girl groups of the 2000s.

Milestones in Beyoncé’s music career

During Destiny’s Child’s hiatus, Beyoncé released her debut solo studio album Dangerously in Love in 2003, including two singles Crazy in Love and Baby Boy.

They became one of the most successful albums of that year when they helped Knowles win five awards at the prestigious Grammy Awards.

After the group disbanded in 2005, Knowles released her second studio album, B’Day, in 2006. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

The other two songs released on B’Day, Irreplaceable and Beautiful Liar, were also well received by the public and helped Beyoncé rise to fame among a host of other promising artists.

She then released the album I Am… Sasha Fierce in 2008, featuring the single Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It). The album helped her win six more Grammy Awards at the 52nd Grammy Awards, setting a record for the most Grammy Awards won by a female artist in one night.

She also appeared in Dreamgirls, a musical film about the life of a real-life Cadillac Records character, in which Knowles played the role of famous blues singer Etta James.

Her performance in the film received critical acclaim and the song Once in a Lifetime featuring Scott McFarnon was nominated for a Grammy and a Golden Globe.

In March 2009, Beyoncé embarked on her second world tour, the I Am… World Tour, which played 198 shows and grossed $119.5 million.

In November 2010, Knowles revealed that she was working on her fourth album, 4, and was writing and experimenting with a completely new genre of music.

Beyoncé stated that she would use her own life to create her own music.

“I wouldn’t say I’m inventing a new genre of music…I’m just mixing the music that I like and being inspired by different genres. It’s not R&B. It’s not just Pop. It’s not Rock. It’s just what I love and creating a mixture of music.”

Her self-titled album, BEYONCÉ, was started in 2012 in New York. The album was released online without any prior announcement, which surprised the public.

BEYONCÉ received a lot of praise from music critics, mainly for its meticulous production, the themes of the songs, and Beyoncé’s diva-like vocals.

The album sold more than 800,000 copies in just three days and became the fastest-selling album in the history of the iTunes Store.

In addition, BEYONCÉ was also listed as one of the best albums of 2013 by various magazines and brought the “Queen Bee” three prestigious Grammy awards.

Lemonade and a strong statement about feminism

On April 23, 2016, the next product in Beyoncé’s brilliant musical career, titled Lemonade, was officially released. The album is a collection of many different music genres such as Pop, R&B, Blues, Rock, Hip hop, Soul, Funk and Trap.

The album’s lyrics mainly deal with political issues, race and especially feminism. Therefore, Lemonade was initially assessed to be quite limited in terms of media.

According to the exclusive release channel Tidal, Lemonade is based on the journey of self-discovery and healing the pain of each woman.

The album was promoted with a short film of the same name, broadcast live on HBO. The structure of the eleven chapters ranges from Intuition, Denial, Anger, Indifference, Emptiness, Responsibility, Change, Forgiveness, Inspiration, Hope and finally Atonement.

The film gathers all the emotions of a woman who has gone through many ups and downs of marriage. When the pain exceeds the limit of tolerance, their emotions will gradually fade away, become insensitive and that is when the man has to pay the price he deserves.

“I don’t feel sorry, I don’t think about you anymore. Did you call me to apologize? Did you call me to cry? Now I will show you how happy I am. Now it’s my turn to lie and I will never feel guilty about it. Serves you right!”

In addition, political issues are also mentioned in Don’t Hurt Yourself, Freedom and especially Formation through the profound experiences of a black woman living in the most civilized society in the world but having to endure the contempt of racists.

Beyoncé perfectly portrayed the words of Malcolm X, an American Muslim cleric and human rights activist in the song Don’t Hurt Yourself.

“The least respected person in America is the black woman. The least protected person in America is the black woman. The most forgotten person in America is the black woman.”

More than a musical product, Lemonade is an artistic masterpiece. It comes from Beyoncé’s own emotions, expressing her ego and strong spirit of defiance, completely going against the trend of the music industry at that time.

In June 2018, Beyoncé and Jay-Z kicked off their On the Run II tour in Cardiff, UK. Ten days later, at the final show in London, the pair unveiled Everything Is Love, their joint studio album, which will be released under the name The Carters.

The pair also released the video for the album’s lead single, Apeshit, on Beyoncé’s official YouTube channel.

Everything Is Love received positive reviews from the media and debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 with 123,000 album sales, of which seventy thousand were pure album sales.

On April 2019, Beyoncé, along with streaming service Netflix, premiered a 137-minute documentary and concert film called Homecoming. The film largely covers Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance.

The singer’s performance at the 2018 Coachella music festival is considered a shining milestone in pop culture, captivating fans around the world.

At the annual Coachella music festival, Beyoncé captivated thousands of audiences with her hit songs, top-notch choreography combined with magnificent stage effects, the majestic charisma of a queen and her hot body.

This is considered an iconic performance for black pride and for Beyoncé’s music career. The live album Homecoming: The Live Album was released with the film of the same name, directly produced by Netflix.

Homecoming has excellently received six nominations at the 71st Emmy Awards in the Creative Arts category.

Beyoncé and her impressive fashion style

It can be affirmed that Beyoncé is proof that fashion changes with age. During her time in the girl group, Beyoncé favored a seductive, rebellious style of dress that broke away from the norm.

In 2002, when she started her solo career, people saw that the queen of the past had stopped wearing dusty outfits and instead wore luxurious, sexy metallic outfits and charming white dresses that made Beyoncé look like a goddess.

From a girl with a personality in her younger years, Beyoncé changed her style with tight outfits with high buns and modest, minimalist accessories, highlighting her balanced figure.

In fashion, Beyoncé is not exactly a safe person. The singer is willing to wear sexy see-through outfits, burning all eyes. What’s special is that she broke the old concept that pregnant women cannot dress beautifully.

Not flared or straight dresses to hide the pregnant belly, most of the “Queen Bee” maternity dresses are tight-fitting dresses, highlighting the most noble role of a mother.

That’s why she is considered one of the best-dressed pregnant women in contemporary music. She shared:

“I wear very simple, modest clothes but still have to choose carefully, for example, it has to be really nice T-shirts with flattering jeans, high heels. If I go on vacation, even if no one is looking, I still have to buy new clothes, new swimsuits and wear jewelry. I’ve always loved fashion and I like to make myself beautiful.”

Throughout her career of more than two decades, Beyoncé’s fashion style has become a symbol for feminism and all women in the world.

Simple life with family

Being quite private about her personal life, she always keeps her love affair with her wonderful husband Jay-Z a secret. Four years after getting married, the two icons of the world’s contemporary music industry welcomed a new member of the family, baby Blue Ivy.

Since then, her happy, exemplary family has become an inspiration to millions of people around the world.

When mentioning Beyoncé and Jay Z, many people give them affectionate compliments because they are one of the happiest couples in showbiz.

Living together for fifteen years, the two have overcome many storms, faced rumors of infidelity and the pressure of being a star, but in the end, they are still together peacefully.

With little time, the couple still tries to give each other the sweetest things. At that time, people no longer see the shadow of the most powerful couple in the world but just ordinary parents like millions of other ordinary families in the world.

With her contributions, talent and way of life that has a positive influence on everyone, Beyoncé deserves to be the queen of world music.

The “Queen Bee” always has her own career direction and is sure that she will continue to conquer more success in the future.
