Brooklyn Beckham said people don’t know the real personalities of his parents and only see their fake happiness on social media: “I can’t remember the last time they sat down together without it being about business” (video)

Nobody knows what it’s like to ‘grow up Beckham’ more than Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the firstborn child of Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham and iconic soccer player David Beckham.

The 25-year-old sat down with TODAY.com to talk about his famous parents, summertime plans and why he wants to be a young dad.

What nobody knows about his mom

The 2023 Netflix documentary “Beckham” launched a renewed public interest in the story of his parents and his family.

“It really taught so many people about my mum and dad’s career over the years,” he said.

But he says that there are still things that people don’t know about his parents. One thing he thinks would surprise people about his superstar mom?

“She does smile a lot,” he says.

Brooklyn wants to be a young dad

Brooklyn says he has treasured memories of growing up with his father.

“Little things that makes my dad really happy … like, spending time with his family and just like cookingin his little hut in the country.”

Growing up, he says that his dad was always the chef of the family, and his favorites are traditional comfort foods over anything, well, posh.

“Me and my dad always love to cook together,” he says, adding that some meals that remind him of home are “bangers and mash, fish and chips, pie and mash, sausage rolls.”

Brooklyn says he wants his future children to have the same experiences he did. In 2022, he wed actor Nicola Peltz, and says he hopes to be a young dad, just like his own father.

“I couldn’t ask for better parents,” he says. “My dad was really young when he had me.” David Beckham was 23 when Brooklyn was born; he has three younger siblings, Romeo, Harper and Cruz.

Summer like a Beckham

Brooklyn says he’s planning a busy summer.

“I have a bit of travel coming up for work, going to Europe at some point, going to London, going back to LA, New York: I’m kind of bouncing about this summer,” he tells TODAY.com.

Beckham is releasing a travel guide collaboration with the travel company Trainline, offering his advice on food and travel throughout Europe, as well as his own recipes (including those sausage rolls he loved as a child!).

“I’ve been traveling with my family overseas since I was a baby,” he says, adding that he has fond childhood memories of family vacations.

“When we used to go to Napa Valley, that’s one of my favorite places,” he says. “I went there so many times with my mum or dad.”

Now that he’s older and lives in Los Angeles, he says he’s able to create new memories in the place he loves.

“It’s nice to be able to drive up to Napa and meet my wife and our dogs.”

And the Beckham family still vacations together, he says — even with everyone’s busy lives and schedules.

“Right now when we travel, we all meet each other there,” he said. “But you know, we still have the best time together … and it’s nice. I get to bring my wife on trips now.”
