Following Paco Rabanne’s death, the worlds of fashion and entertainment have rallied to pay several homages to the late Spanish designer.
The latest of the bunch was Cardi B at the 2023 Grammys, which took place on February 5.
ICYMI, music’s biggest night reunited la crème de la crème of the music industry, who brought out their fashion A-game for the award ceremony.
Among the big names, rapper Cardi B turned heads with her fabulous looks.
After stunning with an electric blue couture creation by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta on the red carpet, Cardi underwent an outfit change to present the award for Best Rap Album.
In true Cardi style, the look was a masterpiece from Paco Rabanne’s brand archives that featured his classic link pieces.

The top, skirt, and hood set Cardi sported at the Grammys belonged to the Fall Winter 2020 collection and were designed by Julien Dossena, who’s overseen the brand since 2014.
Never one to miss out on the details, Cardi elevated the see-through look with a cuff bangle, matching platforms, and a classy black manicure.
A perfect celebration of the fashion trailblazer’s legacy, the ensemble channeled the iconic metallic aesthetics that Paco Rabanne introduced in his very first collection in 1966 before becoming one of the most influential designers of our times. A former architect, Rabanne shook the fashion status quo from his very debut with his robes importables (unwearable dresses) that would later become go-tos for the likes of yeyé legend Françoise Hardy and actress Jane Fonda. In her celebrated role as Barbarella, the latter sported Rabanne’s iconic designs on the big screen. (Lest we forget, he was affectionately referred to as the “Metallurgist of Fashion”).
Radical, audacious, and unconventional, Paco Rabanne left an unmatched legacy that, as proved by Cardi B, will continue to inspire the style of equally daring figures in the future.
