David Beckham looked dapper as ever as he arrived at Wimbledon for the first day of tennis.
The iconic annual event at SW19 is underway once again today (Monday, July 1) and an array of celebrities will watch as the world’s best take to centre court.
David is a regular at the tournament and looked smart as he donned a stunning BOSS suit for a date with his mum Sandra at the sporting event.
He looked sleek in the bespoke beige two-piece as he paired it with a blue cotton shirt and golden tie.
The suit choice comes just days after he signed a mega deal to be the luxury brand’s global ambassador.
He opted for a pair of smart sunglasses from his own DB Eyewear range to accessorise.
However, he faced a potentially awkward meeting with Katherine Jenkins after he previously refused to say sorry for his strong words regarding her OBE. David, who himself was awarded the honour in 2023 for his services to football, spoke out after Katherine’s accolade was awarded in 2018.
The former England football captain, 49, was reportedly less than impressed that he hadn’t received a further honour and name-dropped the Welsh singer, 44, in an angry email which was later leaked online.
David’s alleged words to an advisor read: “Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F***ing joke.”
Katherine later said his apparent words were hurtful, but claimed she hadn’t reached out to him for clarity or received an apology. Katherine, who was spotted sitting a row behind him as they took in the opening day’s action, previously said David’s comments “didn’t matter.” She later insisted her focus was on “my kids, my family, my singing, my charities,” calling everything else “just white noise in the background”.
Speaking to The Sun, Katherine said: “It’s obviously disappointing. I’ve never heard anything from them about it. You just think, \Aw, I wasn’t doing anything.’ To get caught up in that wasn’t pleasant. I don’t know why, again, that was aimed at me. I also don’t feel the need to defend this, by the way. I know what I’ve done and when I got the OBE it was given to me for music, and for charity.”
The pair had previously been accused of having an affair, with Katherine taking to social media to quickly shut down such claims. In August 2012, when the speculation reached fever pitch, Katherine took to Twitter to say: “Dear Twitter friends, I’ve read some horrible rumours on here & want u 2 know I absolutely deny I’ve had an affair with David Beckham.
“The rumours are very hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable,” she wrote at the time.
At Wimbledon today, Katherine was sporting an elegant white gown and chunky black-framed sunglasses as she sat alongside Andrew Levitas. The pair had earlier strolled hand-in-hand to the event.
David was also seen having a chat with veteran TV broadcaster and biologist Sir David Attenborough. The 98-year-old looked amazing as he was all smiles while wearing a navy suit and white shirt combo. He paired it with a multi-coloured patterned tie.
Following in Katherine’s footsteps to don the all-white attire normally accustomed for the courts were Myleene Klass and Kirsty Gallacher, both of whom opted for the crisp summer outfits. Both looked amazing as they turned up in stylish trouser suits.
Elsewhere, Sir Cliff Richard gave the thumbs up to photographers as he turned up at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Steph McGovern and Lorraine Kelly were also present as they posed for pictures alongside Myleene with Champagne Lanson at The Championships.
