David Beckham caused controversy when he “robbed” a young couple’s wedding venue (video)

David Beckham has reportedly made a huge offer in a bid to steal a venue away from a couple who had booked it for their dream wedding.

The British football legend turns 50 next year and he’s reportedly been busy hunting for the perfect location for the glitzy bash.

It’s now been claimed that Beckham had hoped to use luxury resort Gleneagles in Scotland, UK as the venue to mark the major milestone.

However, there’s a slight problem; it’s already booked, reported The Mirror.

A couple was meant to get married at the same location but their wedding lands on the same day. In order to secure the venue,

Beckham has apparently convinced the couple to move the date by helping them pay off their wedding and a lot more.

A “friend of a friend” took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the claim this week.

User Ollienarrator wrote in a tweet: “A friend of a friend is getting married at Gleneagles next year but David Beckham wants the date for his 50th, so to get the friend to move it so he can have the hotel, Gleneagles are paying for their new wedding date, honeymoon AND paying off their mortgage … the power of Becks.”

Fans of Beckham rushed to comment on the claim, with many praising the footballer for being so generous.

“OMG!!!! That’s absolutely wild! Ah but so worth it,” wrote one, while another person commented: “What a wedding present!” to which the original poster responded: “I bet Beckham won’t have to pay either! But yeah, mortgage paid off will do!”

Meanwhile, it comes after it was revealed that Beckham is suing actor Mark Wahlberg after a fitness brand deal soured — leaving him $16.4 million (£8.5 million) out of pocket.

His firm, DB Ventures Ltd, is claiming the Hollywood star “duped” the England football legend into working with F45, reported The Sun.

Beckham agreed to be the firm’s global ambassador when he moved to LA, where he and Wahlberg, 52, became friends.

He is also suing the actor’s firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group (MWIG), and gym group F45’s founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.

He claims he lost more than $16.4 million when stocks he was promised were withheld until after share prices plummeted.

Wahlberg and his co-defendants claim the allegations of “fraudulent conduct” are baseless and have asked a judge to dismiss the lawsuit.
