David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, expressed high praise for star player Lionel Messi during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show.
Beckham, alongside two other co-owners, elaborated on the inception of plans to bring Messi to the United States
and highlighted how the legendary Argentine’s expertise aligns with his debut in Major League Soccer.
In his admiration for Messi, Beckham described the World Cup champion as the epitome of a soccer player, dubbing him as ‘perfect’ and nominating him for the title of the greatest of all time.
Additionally, Beckham acknowledged the significant cultural impact Messi has had globally and specifically in the realm of American soccer.
Speaking to Kimmel, Beckham emphasized Messi’s transformative influence on the sport and society at large, citing it as one of the motivations behind their endeavor to bring him to America.
“It’s just that effect that Leo has on the game and the world,” Beckham said. “One of the reasons we wanted to bring him to America was to inspire the next generation. That was my plan.”
“I obviously wanted to bring him for the player he is and the person he is. I played against him numerous times, actually twice thankfully, but I’ve been a fan of him and watched him for many years. And I always had the plan to bring the greatest player to ever play the game in my opinion to our team. Luckily, it happened.”
