Although both women attended the event alongside their husbands Ben Affleck and Jay-Z respectively.
Sources revealed that the “Jenny From the Block” singer wasn’t too fond of all eyes being on Bey.
At the Monday, July 3, bash, it was evident that the “Love on Top” hitmaker and the “On The Floor” arist weren’t quite on the best of terms.
As one source revealed to Star magazine (via OK), “While exchanging pleasantries with each other, it was clear to everyone that there was some distance between them.
People seemed to be paying more attention to Beyoncé than Jennifer which may have stoked a sense of competitiveness in her.”
At the star-studded gathering, it seemed that tensions rose when Ben Affleck was spotted showing his admiration for Queen Bey.
An attendee reported that “The atmosphere grew increasingly uncomfortable as time went on and Ben kept showering Beyonce with compliments while Jennifer wasn’t around.”
Feuds between Jennifer Lopez and her peers in the industry are nothing new.
It is well known that Mariah Carey has publicly expressed her strained relationship with Jennifer Lopez for many years now.
During a 2018 interview, the “Through The Rain” singer addressed her infamous “Don’t know her” comment about JLo, insisting that she was simply trying to maintain a positive attitude.
During an interview on “Watch What Happens Live,” JLo shared her perspective on the way she and Mariah interact.
“My strategy is to stay away from it – you can’t let yourself get overwhelmed by that,” she said.
“It’s unbelievable that some people can read the comments so often and still manage to survive!”
“I know from back in the day things that she said about me were not the greatest but we’ve never met. We don’t know each other.”
In an interview the same year, Mariah was posed with a question about her opinion of JLo, and she made it clear that she did not know Jennifer whatsoever. “Truth is, I’m quite forgetful,” Mariah said. “I have no recollection of ever being introduced to her or anyone saying ‘Hi, this is so-and-so.’”
However, it’s still best to take Star magazine’s report with a grain of salt.
