People listen to Emma Watson. Whether she’s speaking for gender equality and her organization.
He for She, at the U.N. or in conversation with Gloria Steinem for her feminist book club, Our Shared Shelf, Watson is an effective megaphone for social causes.
And so her voice will likely resound with her new Twitter plug for J.K. Rowling’s organization, Lumos.
Which aims to provide families with the resources they need to stay healthy and avoid government institutionalization.
“Please support @jkrowling and the #WeAreLumos worldwide campaign,” Watson tweeted.
In the accompanying photo, she’s wearing a limited edition shirt, which reads, “We do not need magic to transform our world; we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.”
Watson has long supported Rowling’s organization; they both appeared at the Warner Bros. Studio Harry Potter tour for a Lumos fundraiser back in 2013. Their friendship has spanned the better part of Watson’s life.
The actress, who was barely in double digits when the Harry Potter films began production, counts Rowling among her female heroes. Rowling has said she thinks Hermione would be proud of the U.N. ambassador.
It’s only fitting that Watson shed some light on her role model’s good deeds—even if, in lieu of reciting “lumos,” all she has to do is don a t-shirt.
