On Monday afternoon, Emmy Russell shared a message with her fans after being voted off of “American Idol” on Sunday night.

The 25-year-old granddaughter of Loretta Lynn navigated her way through the cuts, but didn’t garner enough votes to make her way into the singing competition’s Top 3. 

The Nashville singer-songwriter was eliminated alongside Triston Harper after making it to the Top 5.

On Instagram, Russell posted a video sharing her thoughts on the elimination.

“Thank you so much for all the love, all the voting,” Russell said in a video as she held her coffee and smiled.

“I didn’t make Top 3, but that’s a part of—that was God’s plan…

Before I got eliminated, I think God told me, he was like, ‘Emmy, you’re not gonna be chosen by America, but I chose you,’” Russell continued.

Russell said that she feels grateful and has no resentment over not being chosen to continue on by American voters, who decide the competition’s cuts.

“I know I’m chosen. It’s like whenever a boy is like, ‘I don’t wanna go out with you anymore.’ And you’re, like, ‘Okay. But I know I’m loved,’” she said with confidence.

Russell continued, “For me, the point of being here is you can be yourself and be successful, don’t run from rejection or pain, and facing hard things…

“I sang ‘The Climb’ from Miley Cyrus and I really think that she says it best. Sometimes you’re gonna have to lose….it’s the climb. The climb is Abraham’s Promised Land…the promise is the climb with God.”

The Top 3 are Abi Carter, Will Moseley and Jack Blocker.

The season finale for “American Idol” will air on Sunday, May 16 at 7 p.m. CT/ 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
