Meghan Markle’s American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand name is being used to sell adult colouring books.
The Duchess of Sussex announced her surprise lifestyle brand back in March,
and teased plans for the new project to sell a line of preserves, nut butters and jams, as well as an extensive homeware and cookware collection.
Meghan has yet to officially confirm a launch date for American Riviera Orchard,
but she’s been pipped to the post by another company who are using the brand name to sell colouring books online.
According to The Independent, a Shopify page started by an unknown seller is flogging colouring books for grown ups – with one named ‘Working Class Royalty’
– and priced between £8 and £16. One colouring book is currently sold out, while there are two financial planners available, priced at either £8 or £16 depending on size.
The Shopify page states that it has no connection to Meghan’s brand, and the description on the website suggests they have an anti-monarchy stance. A blog on the Shopify page claims that royal titles have “no significance” and said their “RoyalWealth Reign™ line was established to recognise and celebrate the working class who are the true heart of our country.” Revealing that they are a US brand, they continued: “In America, we do not recognize a royal title by someone’s name. In America, we believe ALL are created EQUAL.”
The Mirror has approached the Sussexes for comment. Since her surprise announcement back in March, Meghan has teased the products she could be selling under her American Riviera Orchard brand, and in a trademark application revealed that her new business would sell “edible and non-perishable products”. Among the food items set to be sold by Meghan are jams, spreads, butters, and oils, alongside homeware items such as tableware, glasses, home fragrance and cosmetics, as well as pet products and workout gear.
Meghan recently sent out a sample of her jam, reportedly made by fruit grown at her and Prince Harry’s lavish Montecito mansion, and gifted it to a small selection of her friends, including Kris Jenner, Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Chrissy Teigen. However, the former Suits star hasn’t given any other hint as to when her brand will officially launch, and fans have been left desperate for a date when they can get their hands on Meghan’s jams and nut butters.
