Fox host Jesse Watters not invited to family Thanksgiving because there’s ‘no room’ at the tablec

Fox News host Jesse Watters recently revealed that he won’t be spending Thanksgiving at his mother’s house this year, s

Sharing the news during a monologue on his Monday night show.

The 46-year-old newscaster joked that the “snub” came because there was “not enough room” to accommodate him at his mom’s home in Philadelphia,

a situation that humorously took center stage on his program.

Watters seemed to make light of the situation, claiming that the reason behind his absence was not about physical space,

but rather the result of a political divide between him and his mother, who is known for her staunch liberal views.

Watters’ humorous take on the situation began when he referenced clips from left-wing news outlets discussing how some people are choosing to “take space” from family members with differing political views over the holidays. In this context, Watters mentioned that “people are taking some space in the Watters household,” hinting at his own family’s dynamic. He quipped about the scheduling conflict that allegedly prevented him from being invited to Thanksgiving dinner, but joked that his mother later offered an invitation for Black Friday instead, to which he responded humorously, saying, “I’ll be at Best Buy.”

However, a source close to the Fox News host later clarified that the absence from the family gathering was not politically motivated. While the reason for his non-invitation wasn’t directly related to politics, Watters has previously spoken about the political friction that often arises between him and his mother, Anne Bailey Watters, a firm Democrat. In fact, the pair’s differing views have become a point of humor for Watters, especially during a recurring segment on his show called “Mom Texts,” where he reads aloud the often pointed messages from his mother. These exchanges, though at times critical, are softened by the love and concern of a mother.

One particularly biting message Watters shared was: “Do not name call and parrot Trump’s insults. That is beneath you.” However, his mother has also offered lighter, more encouraging messages, such as comments about his appearance, including one that complimented his improved tie knot. This blend of sharp political disagreements and caring motherly advice has been a hallmark of Watters’ on-air persona.

Despite the humor, the political divide between Watters and his mother has been longstanding. The two have often clashed over political issues, especially as Watters has become a prominent conservative voice in the media. In fact, he has shared stories of Thanksgiving dinners becoming tense due to his political leanings. In a previous interview with the *Philadelphia Inquirer*, Watters recalled how, during the Obama administration, holiday gatherings at his liberal family’s house were “tough.” He described a particular Thanksgiving after Donald Trump won the presidency, which led to a more dramatic showdown, claiming he “cleared out” the table with his praise for the newly elected president. The holiday had become a source of frustration for him due to the political climate, but the dynamic shifted after Trump’s victory.

While Watters’ Thanksgiving at his mother’s house may be off the table this year, the host has made it clear that the divide between him and his mother isn’t just about politics. In fact, last year, he shared a light-hearted story about an incident involving a dog bite. He joked that the dog’s owner—a Democrat—didn’t recognize him, further emphasizing the sometimes humorous disconnect between him and his family. Watters, who is known for his outspoken conservative views, often finds himself navigating the delicate balance of humor and political tension during family gatherings, and his comments about Thanksgiving this year are just another chapter in this ongoing family dynamic.

While his mother’s political views are known to be liberal, Watters’ playful monologue highlighted the common clash of politics and family gatherings, particularly during the holidays. His remarks struck a chord with many, as it’s not uncommon for families to experience tension over differing political opinions, especially in today’s highly charged political climate. However, despite the humor surrounding the situation, Watters’ lighthearted commentary reminded viewers that, despite the political divide, family dynamics are often more complex than simple ideological differences.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Watters may not be sharing a meal with his mother, but the ongoing clash of opinions and the occasional humorous exchange between them will likely continue to be a topic of conversation for years to come.
