Gino D’Acampo Reacts to Claims He ‘Drew Sexual Pic of Female Producer and Made Crude Jibe About Mary Berry’
Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo has responded to allegations that he made inappropriate comments
and created an explicit drawing of a female television producer during a live broadcast.
The accusations, which date back to his time on Saturday Cooks!, have led to an investigation by ITV,
with the network describing the claims as “inappropriate and unacceptable.”
Allegations Against D’Acampo
The accusations stem from incidents said to have occurred between 2007 and 2008 when D’Acampo worked alongside the unnamed producer on the ITV cookery program. According to reports, the woman claims that during filming, D’Acampo asked if he could sketch her portrait. However, she was allegedly left feeling “shocked and humiliated” when he presented her with an explicit drawing of a naked woman with her legs apart.
The producer also alleged that D’Acampo made inappropriate sexual remarks about her leather boots at a party and that he made a crude comment about British TV cook Mary Berry, 89.
The woman reportedly filed a formal complaint with ITV in December 2024, asserting that there was a “toxic culture of sexism and misogyny” in the workplace.
D’Acampo’s Response
D’Acampo, 48, has denied the allegations, stating that he was unaware of any such complaints until he was contacted by The Sun on Sunday regarding the claims.
A spokesperson for the chef told The Standard: “None of these allegations have ever been brought to his attention previously. He does not recollect them and does not recognize the allegations or the behavior which is attributed to him.”
The statement continued: “He denies these allegations. He has been told by The Sun on Sunday that they are from a complaint to ITV from December 2024. If so, he urges ITV to contact him about it and he will fully cooperate. He is deeply worried about the immense and escalating distress that these allegations are having on his family.”
ITV’s Response and Ongoing Investigation
ITV has confirmed that they are taking the matter seriously and have launched an investigation into the claims.
An ITV spokesperson told The Standard: “The behavior detailed is inappropriate and unacceptable. We are committed to investigating complaints in an appropriate manner and according to our robust protocols.”
The network emphasized its commitment to maintaining a respectful and safe working environment. “Everyone working with ITV is subject to ITV’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. At ITV, we treat everyone with courtesy, fairness, dignity, and respect and do not tolerate abusive behavior of any form in the workplace,” the statement read.
ITV also revealed that in 2024, the network established a dedicated complaints handling unit to address issues related to on-screen presenters and had “reiterated expectations” about professional conduct through their updated Conduct and Standards Guidelines.
Other Allegations Against D’Acampo
These latest accusations come amid a wave of claims against the TV chef, who has been accused of inappropriate and distressing behavior on various sets over the past 12 years.
Earlier this month, an ITV News investigation revealed that D’Acampo had allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior, including making sexually suggestive comments about This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby and her friend, broadcaster Fearne Cotton.
One of the most serious allegations dates back to 2011 when D’Acampo reportedly told a female colleague that he would “like to turn me over and f*** me up the a*** against the kitchen counter.”
The chef has strongly denied these allegations, calling them “deeply upsetting.”
“I have never been made aware of these matters previously, and the allegations are firmly denied,” he said in a statement. “I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognize the version of events being put to me.”
Jeremy Clarkson Defends D’Acampo
As the allegations against D’Acampo continue to gain attention, TV personality Jeremy Clarkson has spoken out in his defense, criticizing what he described as “cancel culture.”
In a column for The Sun, the former Top Gear presenter argued that celebrities facing backlash over controversial comments or actions should not be immediately condemned without due process.
“None of them is accused of doing something illegal. They just said something or did something which someone found offensive. And that’s that,” Clarkson wrote.
He also pointed out that such accusations don’t necessarily reflect recent behavior, stating: “It doesn’t even have to be a current misdemeanour. It could be a tweet you sent when you were 17. Or something you said to your brother when you were four.”
Clarkson further argued that public figures who face backlash are often given “no trial” and “no chance to mount a defense,” leaving them on what he called the “scrapheap” of the entertainment industry.
What’s Next for D’Acampo?
As ITV continues its investigation, it remains unclear what the outcome will be for D’Acampo’s television career. Given the growing number of allegations and the scrutiny surrounding workplace behavior in the entertainment industry, his future on television may be uncertain.
For now, D’Acampo has reiterated his denial of the claims and insists that he will cooperate fully with ITV’s investigation. However, with additional accusations surfacing, the controversy surrounding the celebrity chef is far from over.
