GMA’s Robin Roberts is left unimpressed with co-star Michael Strahan during live show

Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan share a bond like no other on Good Morning America (GMA), often bringing their lighthearted and fun dynamic to the morning show.

Recently, Roberts found herself reacting to one of Strahan’s on-air antics, leading to a moment that had both the hosts and viewers laughing.

Robin’s Reaction to Michael’s Pun-Filled Moment

During a recent segment, the GMA anchors were discussing Hamish, a calf from the Nashville Zoo who had captured their attention.

Lara Spencer, reporting live from the zoo, introduced the adorable animal to viewers, and the conversation quickly turned playful.

As the discussion wrapped up, Strahan, known for his quick wit, decided to throw in a pun, saying, “Mooooving on.”

While his joke was met with chuckles, Roberts wasn’t about to let it slide. She immediately reacted, exclaiming, “Oh no, no you didn’t.”

Playfully shaking him while laughing, she added, “You know Michael, it’s too early to start that.” Strahan, ever the entertainer, embraced the moment, while George Stephanopoulos, their co-anchor, watched on with amusement.

A Friendship That Runs Deep

Roberts and Strahan have worked together for years and share a deep friendship beyond their on-screen banter. When Strahan first joined GMA in 2016, Roberts was one of his biggest supporters, making sure he felt welcome in the fast-paced world of morning television.

During a special episode in April 2022, celebrating Roberts’ 20-year anniversary on the show, Strahan reflected on how much her kindness had meant to him in those early days.

“I was feeling overwhelmed. And we were somewhere together, and she looked at me and she just said, ‘You belong here,'” he recalled, getting emotional as he spoke.

He continued, “You belong here and don’t you forget that.’ And she doesn’t realize how forever indebted I am to her with just those few words in that one crucial moment in life.”

As he spoke, Roberts reached over and held his hand, clearly touched by his heartfelt words. Strahan also shared how much he values their working relationship, describing how they bring out the best in each other.

“She makes me want to be a good teammate. For someone who’s been in this business for as long as she has, to still have this energy about her, it’s like she’s here for the first day.”

More Than Just Co-Hosts—They’re Family

Beyond their fun moments on air, Roberts and Strahan have supported each other during life’s toughest challenges. When Strahan’s daughter Isabella was diagnosed with cancer at 19, it was Roberts—who has battled breast cancer herself—who offered him comfort and encouragement.

In a 2024 interview, Strahan opened up about how Roberts helped him navigate that difficult time.

“She said, ‘You think when you have cancer, you’re going to wake up every day and think, Oh, I have cancer. But at some point, you wake up and you just live. You don’t even think about it.’”

Strahan found hope in her words, saying, “I can’t wait for Isabella to get back to that point… when she feels, ‘I’m back to normal me.’ That will be a moment of completion.”

Thankfully, Isabella has since recovered and returned to school, but Strahan remains grateful for the wisdom and support Roberts offered him during that emotional period.

A Dynamic Duo on Morning Television

Roberts and Strahan’s playful interactions, combined with their deep mutual respect, make them one of the most beloved duos on morning television. Whether teasing each other over bad puns or offering words of encouragement during difficult times, their bond is clear.

With their natural chemistry and infectious energy, they bring warmth and laughter to Good Morning America every day—proving that their friendship is just as strong off-screen as it is in front of the cameras.
