Good Morning Britain viewers left frustrated as they issue complaint minutes into show

On Friday, March 7, viewers of Good Morning Britain (GMB) wasted no time airing their grievances

as the show opened, frustrated with the continued focus on Meghan Markle.

The latest headlines, delivered by presenters Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder,

quickly turned to the Duchess of Sussex’s recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show,

where she discussed her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

Meghan’s appearance on the U.S. talk show the previous day, March 6, was one of the main topics of conversation.

During the interview, the Duchess offered a glimpse into her life in California with Prince Harry and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. She also demonstrated some culinary techniques from her new show, providing viewers with cooking tips and showcasing her domestic skills. This segment from The Drew Barrymore Show offered a lighthearted look at Meghan’s family life, but it didn’t take long for Good Morning Britain to stir up controversy.

Many GMB viewers were upset by the recurring coverage of Meghan Markle, which they felt had dominated the week’s programming. One viewer took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their displeasure, writing, “Why are they talking about Meghan AGAIN? They spoke about her being on the Drew Barrymore show yesterday! My god this show is obsessed with her, living rent-free in their minds.”

The frustration didn’t end there, as more viewers chimed in to criticize the show’s obsession with the Duchess. One user remarked, “Whoever the @ITV producer of @GMB is, they really have an obsession with Meghan Markle for the last 8 years from Piers Morgan, Dan Wootton. We are now in 2025 and they are still obsessing over Meghan. LIKE it or not, they are promoting her Netflix show, which is becoming a global success.” Another added, “#GMB are really plugging Meghan’s show,” while a more blunt viewer said, “Not a fan of Meghan, but this show absolutely f****** hate her.”

The backlash highlights the ongoing divide in public opinion about Meghan Markle. While some viewers are interested in her latest projects, others believe the media’s constant focus on her is excessive.

Meghan’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, premiered on March 4 and quickly gained popularity. It is currently ranked as the fourth most-watched show on the platform in the UK, according to the Manchester Evening News. The show offers a look into Meghan’s personal life, where she shares tips on how to “elevate” everyday meals. The Duchess also invites friends and celebrities to her stunning Californian estate, where they exchange advice on various lifestyle topics like cooking, gardening, and entertaining.

The guest list for the series includes familiar faces such as The Office star Mindy Kaling, Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, and renowned chefs like Roy Choi, Ramon Velazquez, and Alice Waters. Prince Harry also makes a surprise cameo, adding a touch of royal presence to the show.

Despite its popularity, With Love, Meghan has not been free from criticism. The eight-episode series has sparked a significant amount of backlash, with many detractors calling it “insane” and accusing the Duchess of using it as a platform for self-promotion. Critics have labelled the show an “exercise in narcissism,” reflecting the ongoing tension surrounding Meghan and her public image.

The coverage of Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain is just another example of the ongoing media fixation on the Duchess. While some viewers appreciate the coverage and are interested in her latest endeavors, others feel that the attention is disproportionate, especially given the continuous stream of content surrounding her personal life and projects.

As the conversation around Meghan Markle continues to evolve, it’s clear that opinions about the Duchess remain divided. Whether fans or critics, it seems that Meghan Markle will continue to capture the public’s attention, no matter the platform or program. However, as evidenced by the response on Good Morning Britain, it’s clear that not everyone is happy with the constant media focus on her life.
