Greg Gutfeld back at Fox News after welcoming baby at 60: ‘It’s not easy’

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has returned to the airwaves after taking a brief hiatus for paternity leave, stepping back into his role with his signature humor and sharp commentary.

The 60-year-old television personality, known for his late-night show “Gutfeld!” and as a panelist on “The Five,”

delighted viewers with his return, bringing a blend of comedy and heartfelt reflections on fatherhood.

Gutfeld and his wife, Elena Moussa, 42, welcomed their daughter, Mira, in early December.

News of their baby’s arrival was first shared by his Fox co-hosts during a December 10 segment.

Upon his return, Gutfeld addressed his time away, jokingly remarking on his new responsibilities as a father.

“When my wife told me she was pregnant, mine was the first diaper she had to change,” he quipped, demonstrating his characteristic wit. Despite the humorous tone, Gutfeld acknowledged that fatherhood has brought significant changes to his life.

Reflecting on his career, he admitted that selfishness had played a role in his success. “It’s not easy, but it’s not earth-shattering either,” he remarked about parenting. “The lesson I learned is how much I have to unlearn. Throughout my life, I’ve mastered the art of being selfish. But now, I have to think about someone else.”

Gutfeld’s comedic yet candid take on fatherhood resonated with viewers. Known for his biting satire and sometimes controversial remarks, he didn’t shy away from incorporating his typical commentary into his return monologue. His reflections on personal growth, combined with humor, showcased a side of Gutfeld that fans rarely see.

His leave of absence began in early December, initially without explanation. However, his co-host on “The Five,” Dana Perino, later revealed the reason, reading a statement from him.

“It is with great joy that my wife Elena and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world. Mira is healthy with a real set of lungs. She has Elena’s beautiful eyes and my rock-hard abs,” the statement humorously read. “We are hard at work teaching her three languages and putting her through rigorous workout routines. She is already very observant and has asked if Jesse (Waters) wears a toupee. I told her that he definitely wears a wig.”

This lighthearted statement drew laughs from both his colleagues and fans, as Gutfeld maintained his playful and sarcastic approach even when sharing major personal news.

Gutfeld’s show “Gutfeld!” has continued to dominate the ratings in the late-night television landscape. With his unconventional take on current events, he has built a strong following. His return to Fox News was met with enthusiasm, as many viewers eagerly anticipated his take on recent events following his brief time away.

His transition into fatherhood comes at a time when conservative voices in entertainment are gaining influence. Figures like Joe Rogan and Gutfeld himself have carved out significant spaces in media, blending humor with political and cultural commentary.

Gutfeld and Moussa’s relationship has been one of curiosity for many fans. The couple first met in Portugal and married in 2004, less than a year after meeting. Moussa, originally from Russia, has built a career as a fashion stylist. Despite Gutfeld’s public persona, the couple has generally kept their personal lives private, making the revelation of their new baby all the more surprising.

With his return to television, Gutfeld is balancing his well-established career with his new role as a father. His humor remains intact, but his reflections on fatherhood suggest a shift in perspective. His experience of entering parenthood at 60 brings a unique lens to his commentary, one that viewers will likely see unfold in the coming months.

As he resumes his role on “Gutfeld!” and “The Five,” audiences can expect more of his signature wit, now perhaps with an added layer of insight gained from his newfound experience as a father. Whether he’s making light of diaper duty or tackling the latest headlines, Greg Gutfeld’s return is sure to keep his audience entertained.
