Gregg Wallace’s MasterChef replacement ‘confirmed’ as major TV chef

BBC is preparing for a major transformation on *MasterChef*, with a top television chef set to take over from Gregg Wallace, following his departure in November.

The shake-up comes after Wallace stepped down amid allegations of inappropriate behavior,

leading to an investigation by Banijay UK, the production company behind the show.

Matt Tebbutt, the current host of *Saturday Kitchen*, is reportedly in talks to replace Wallace as both judge and host on *MasterChef*,

and possibly even on the spin-off series *MasterChef: The Professionals*.

At 51, Tebbutt has already proven his ability to take on big roles in the culinary television world,

and the BBC appears eager to see if he can bring the same energy and success to *MasterChef*.

The chef and restaurateur is said to be in advanced discussions with the BBC, and could join longtime judge Jon Torode on the panel. With Wallace’s sudden departure following a series of allegations from several women regarding sexual remarks and harassment, the BBC has been searching for the right candidate to step in and continue the show’s legacy of cooking excellence. Tebbutt’s experience with *Saturday Kitchen*, where he managed to carve out his own identity despite taking over from another prominent figure, has given him a strong edge in the race to replace Wallace.

Tebbutt’s ability to make *Saturday Kitchen* his own after taking over from James Martin has earned him praise from both fans and industry professionals alike. This track record has convinced BBC executives and the *MasterChef* producers at Banijay that he could replicate this success on *MasterChef* and continue to engage its massive audience. A source close to the production mentioned that Tebbutt’s charm and skill at hosting have made him a favorite for the job, and they hope he will deliver a similar level of success on the renowned cooking competition.

However, it’s important to note that the replacement is not yet official. As the investigation into Wallace’s behavior is ongoing, nothing is confirmed, and the final decision will depend on the outcome of the probe. While producers are eager to move forward with a new host, they are waiting to ensure that all matters are fully addressed before making any permanent changes. The show’s popularity means that BBC bosses are keen to have a solution in place to maintain the program’s reputation and audience engagement.

In the meantime, *Celebrity MasterChef* has seen food critic Grace Dent step in as a judge, filling the gap left by Wallace’s departure. Dent’s temporary role has helped to keep the show running smoothly while the BBC works to finalize plans for *MasterChef’s* future.

Matt Tebbutt’s culinary career began in South Wales, where he once owned a restaurant. He later transitioned into television, making a name for himself as a skilled chef and engaging host. A graduate of Leiths School of Food and Wine, Tebbutt has worked in some of the UK’s most prestigious kitchens, further cementing his reputation as a respected figure in the culinary world. His diverse experience and down-to-earth yet professional approach have made him a familiar face on British TV, making him a strong contender to replace Wallace on *MasterChef*.

As of now, there is no official confirmation, but the anticipation around Matt Tebbutt’s potential appointment continues to build. Fans of *MasterChef* and *Saturday Kitchen* are eager to see how he will fit into the role of both judge and host, bringing his own style and energy to the show. The change in *MasterChef*’s lineup marks a new chapter for the popular program, and it will be exciting to see how the new host dynamic plays out when the new season eventually airs.
