Harry and Meghan have disclosed the hardships they faced while living in the royal family, including racial discrimination from Kate Middleton

In particular, the magazine looked at how Kate Middleton felt about Meghan and the estrangement Prince Harry received from the British royal family.

After getting married, Meghan and Harry turned down senior royal roles in exchange for a life of freedom.

In an interview with Oprah in March 2021, the couple revealed some of the things they endured while living in the royal family, including racism.

Due to the pandemic, Meghan and Harry have been in California for most of 2021. Meghan has not returned to the UK since her engagement as a royal in March 2020.

A close friend told People that nearly two years after Meghan and Harry left due to a strained relationship with the family, Kate has been ‘really sad about the whole thing’.

The person added that William and Kate have a stronger relationship because of those sad things.

‘Things have been extremely tense with Harry and Meghan, but if anything it has brought Kate and William closer together.

In fact, while Kate is upset about the royal feud, William feels worse. Seeing her husband so distraught is heartbreaking,’ the source said.

Another source told People: ‘Kate doesn’t show her true feelings very often. She definitely has an inner strength. Kate hasn’t said anything publicly about Meghan and Harry, and she has never defended them when the couple were constantly smeared by the British tabloids (to the point where Meghan sued one and won).’

Why are Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle always at odds in the… press?

In fact, Kate and Meghan have never been close sisters-in-law. Royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in their 2020 biography Sussex that ‘Meghan wouldn’t have objected if someone said she and Kate weren’t best friends. Their relationship hasn’t progressed much since Megan became Harry’s girlfriend.’

A source told Scobie and Durand that Kate felt they didn’t have much in common ‘other than living in Kensington Palace’. Meghan and Harry eventually moved away and have since ‘put down roots’ in Montecito, California.

Meghan spoke in an interview with Oprah about her private battles with the media over her poor relationship with Kate and the false stories that were circulated about Meghan. For example, she made Kate cry at her wedding.

Meghan said: ‘They made that story up. I never made Kate cry, the truth is quite the opposite. We had a really tough week preparing for the wedding. Kate Middleton was upset about something, but it was her own problem and she apologised by bringing me a bouquet of flowers and a note of apology. She did what I would do if I knew I had hurt someone. We should take responsibility for what we do, right?

But the shocking thing was, about 6-7 months after our wedding, the story of Meghan making Kate cry went viral around the world. I had no way to stop it. There was no confrontation between me and Kate Middleton. But the difficult thing for me was how to overcome the pressure that I did not cause.

I did not need to tell the press what really happened, nor did I have to prove that I did not make her cry. Everyone at the wedding knew the truth.’ Meghan stressed: ‘I didn’t share anything that was disparaging about Kate Middleton. I think everyone understands that the truth is really important, but I hope people get their facts from the right sources. And for Kate Middleton, I hope she wants to correct the misinformation. I know she’s a good person. Let’s be honest and say, if you love her, you don’t have to hate me. Or if you love me, you don’t have to hate her.’
