Harry stormed out of his best friend’s wedding, who is the Royal Duke, feeling belittled as the sole commoner among the guests

Prince Harry and the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, came to a “mutual” understanding that he would not be attending his wedding, it has been claimed.

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is a close friend of both Prince Harry and his older and somewhat estranged brother William,

with his wedding due to take place in a matter of days. Hugh’s wedding to Olivia Henson will take place on Friday, June 7.

It was previously reported that the Duke of Sussex turned down a “save the date” to the Duke of Westminster’s wedding to avoid an “awkward” encounter

with family members he is no longer on good terms with who are due to attend.

And now American publication PEOPLE Magazine, who officially accompanied the Sussexes on their 72-hour trip to Nigeria in May,

have said they can “confirm” that the Duke of Sussex was invited to society wedding of the year.

The magazine writes how “there was an acknowledgment on both sides that it would be difficult for Harry to attend”, adding that it was an “understanding between the two friends”, according to a source.

An insider close to Hugh Grosvenor and his bride-to-be told the outlet that Harry and the Duke of Westminster made the agreement in a mutual way, with the magazine adding: “The decision certainly avoided the inevitable clamour had estranged brothers Prince William, 41, and Prince Harry both attended the nuptials, eliminating the possibility of the big day being overshadowed for the couple.”

The publication added that: “The Duke of Sussex sends ‘his love and support and admiration for the couple’ for their wedding day.”

This comes after a source told Express that Harry was “triggered” to decline the invitation when he got word about William taking on the big role of being an usher at the wedding. The source told the paper: “William was asked to take up a leading role in the wedding and that’s what triggered Harry to decline an invitation. It was the final nail in the coffin.”

The anonymous source went on to add: “Harry was very close to Hugh growing up so everyone thought it would have been him taking up a leading role, not William.”

But as per several current and previous reports, Harry is thought to have “snubbed” the event long before William’s role as an usher at the wedding was widely known. Speaking to Page Six a few months ago, a source said: “Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.”
