Harry’s interviews with Meghan Markle strained his relationship with King Charles, skillfully using his writing to influence his father’s survival

Prince Harry would need to give King Charles some “cast-iron guarantees” before he could allow him back into the family, a royal expert has said.

It’s no secret that the Duke Of Sussex has had a difficult relationship with his family for several years now, but after the recent poor health of his father King Charles

and sister-in-law Princess Kate there has repeatedly been speculation that Harry could be set to rejoin the family fold.

However, it seems the process could be far more complicated than a simple gesture or appearance.

Harry has given many interviews alongside his wife Meghan Markle as well as making book deals and documentaries – all of which have created a further divide between him

and his family thanks to the cutting comments made about them.

So if Harry now wishes to reconcile it would require some big changes on his part, says royal author and expert Tom Quinn.

Talking exclusively to The Mirror, Quinn said: “King Charles would love to be closer to Harry and to have a relationship with his son that actually works. But this depends on Harry giving his father cast-iron guarantees that there will be no more books and no more embarrassing interviews.”

Tom went on to say that while this all seems well and good in theory – Harry would need to make some realisations before it could happen due to his current stance of being a total “victim” in what has transpired between him and his family. Quin said: “Harry still feels that he is the victim and that his family need to make promises to him, not the other way round.”

This comes after Tom also said how Harry is letting “history repeat itself” as he follows in his mother’s footsteps by battling with the Royals. Harry has been accused of putting too much effort into aiming criticism at the Royal Family and taking on the role that his mother left behind after her ongoing battle with “The Firm” while she was still alive.

Harry spoke on Princess Diana and her legacy in his memoir Spare as he addressed wanting “peace” within his family. Tom believes that Harry is in danger of simply perpetuating the situation if he continues to focus on what Diana endured.

He said: “Harry’s comment in Spare that he ‘wants peace’ with the royal family for the sake of his mother is undoubtedly heartfelt, but in being so focused on Diana, Harry is actually allowing history to repeat itself.”
