Rumors have been swirling about a possible romance between Hoda Kotb and Kevin Costner, and the former Today host recently addressed the speculation. 

During a recent interview, Kotb playfully acknowledged the frequent coincidences that have brought her and the Yellowstone actor together, fueling curiosity among fans.

“Isn’t it sort of weird that he always ends up where I am?” Kotb, 60, said in an interview published on March 3. 

“I mean, I’m just living my life, and there he is. It just keeps happening.”

The speculation only grew after Kotb shared a photo of herself with Costner, 70, at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9. 

The Instagram post quickly caught the attention of her followers, who flooded the comments with support for the potential pairing.

“Kevin Costner could only be so lucky to date Hoda!!” one fan wrote enthusiastically, while another added, “What a great looking couple.” Even Kotb’s former Today cohosts joined in on the fun. The excitement over Kotb and Costner’s chemistry actually dates back to June 2024, when the actor appeared on Today With Hoda & Jenna to promote his Horizon film. Kotb, visibly surprised, responded, “I had never heard that before.” She then playfully added, “If the viewers want it …”

Costner, who finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner in February 2024, also addressed the growing buzz about him and Kotb during an October 2024 interview. While he appreciated the sentiment, he dismissed the idea that anything romantic was happening between them.

“Well look, I’m not on a national dating service. I appreciate the good will,” Costner said at the time. “She’s been great to me. When I go back there … people treat me well. They treat me good. And she’s got a spark, but we’ve never had coffee together.”

He ended his response with a humorous remark: “I know how to meet girls if I have to.”

Despite all the speculation, a source close to Kotb revealed that she is currently not seeing anyone seriously. The source shared on February 12 that while she found the idea of dating Costner amusing, there’s no romance between them.

“It made her smile because [Kevin’s] always been one of her top Hollywood crushes,” the insider said. “In a perfect world, yes, she and Kevin fall madly in love and live happily ever after. But now it’s become this running gag, especially from her former colleagues at Today.”

The source further emphasized that while Kotb and Costner share a fun dynamic and openly flirt during interviews, their relationship remains purely platonic.

Fans of both Kotb and Costner may enjoy imagining a fairy-tale romance between them, but for now, it seems they are simply two professionals who enjoy each other’s company.
