Few have courted fame, fortune, and critical acclaim at such a young age as Jennifer Lawrence. Widely considered one of the most versatile and talented stars of her generation,
Lawrence also took the brave decision to put her thriving career on hold, to embrace motherhood and take care of her mental health.
As a celebrity who has been honest about her personal and professional life on multiple occasions, Lawrence has openly spoken about the challenges in her life including issues with family and friends.
In a candid interview, the Oscar winner revealed how political differences between her and certain family members led to a permanent rupture in the relationship.
Apart from being a hugely successful and popular star, Jennifer Lawrence is also known to support causes close to her heart while being very liberal in her political views as well.
Unfortunately, a lot of her family members did not share her ideals.
Growing up in small-town America in Louisville, Kentucky, the Hunger Games star was surrounded by conservative opinions that were supported by a large part of her family.
These differences were augmented even further, by Lawrence’s confession about conservative TV host Tucker Carlson that further drove a wedge into her relationships. Speaking to Vogue about the trauma and sadness of being estranged from her parents and extended family, the Silver Linings Playbook star confessed that it was hard for her to let go of the hurt she felt not being able to understand their viewpoint.
“I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand, it’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different. I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t.”
Lawrence went on to add that extreme views on leadership and politics in America were unfortunately tearing people apart. Having said that, she felt that taking a strong political stand was also important in the current scenario.
