Is Meghan subtle or cunning when using Diana’s memorial day to launch new products? (video)

Royal fans took to Twitter after spotting the new page, with one writing: “I am too excited for whatever this is.”

A mysterious new Instagram account for ‘American Riviera Orchard’ appeared online this evening.

The account’s biography says the brand is “by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex⁣⁣⁣” and visitors are linked to a website where they can join a mailing list.

A vintage-style video of Meghan cooking and arranging white hydrangeas and roses was posted to the new American Riviera Orchard Instagram account on Thursday.

The brief clip is set to Nancy Wilson’s I Wish You Love and closes with the the brand’s logo, American Riviera Orchard,

written in fine gold script above the word Montecito – a celebrity enclave near Santa Barbara in California where the Duke and Duchess live.

And now industry insiders have told Page Six that the site will focus on home, food, garden and lifestyle goods.

The source said: “She’s been working on this for over a year and it’s all the things that are close to her heart — all the things she’s passionate about.”

The account launched this afternoon, hours before Prince Harry was due to appear in a video message at Princess Diana’s Legacy Award event in London.

Meghan’s friend, the co-founder of Alliance for Mums, shared a screenshot of the account on Instagram and congratulated the duchess on her “new venture”.

She wrote: “Couldn’t be more proud of you and what’s to come. Stay tuned!!! @americanriveriaorchard Love you M.”

Meanwhile, one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “I am too excited for whatever this is, Meghan we’re ready baby.”

Another said: “Meghan is an icon, she is a legend and she is the moment.”

While a third added: “Meghan Markle has announced her next project, American Riviera Orchard, which appears to be Tig 2.0 with the opportunity to buy products from the Duchess.”

According to filings, the application for American Riviera Orchard was made on February 2, 2024.

Under the listing for the goods and services it will provide, it includes tableware, namely, knives, forks, and spoons.

It also mentioned “jellies, jams; marmalades; fruit preserves; edible oils and fats, and preserves; vegetable-based spreads; legume-based spreads; nut-based spreads; garlic-based spreads; sesame-based spreads; dairy-based spreads; nut butters; fruit butters,” as well as other items.

Meghan has not run an Instagram account since the Sussexes stepped back from royal life four years ago.

Previously, they ran a joint account @sussexroyal but announced they would stop posting in March 2020.

The launch comes after it was revealed Prince Harry and Prince William will both attend an event in memory of their mum tonight – but won’t be seen together.

Prince William is set to stand before a crowd in London at the annual Diana Legacy Award event, giving a short speech as he honours the winners.

And Harry’s also set to play his part, chatting to and congratulating the winners.

But he’s said to be doing this virtually from California.

Last year the princes recorded separate videos to congratulate the winners as they celebrated Princess Diana’s globally recognised charity work.

Tonight’s event comes amid rumours the brothers’ rift began as far back as 2018.

Dr Tessy Ojo, chief executive of the Diana Award, told The Times: “It’s a privilege to have the support of both the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex — particularly as we mark our 25th anniversary year.”

Kensington Palace said: “The Prince [of Wales] will meet key staff and supporters of the Diana Award, before joining the ceremony where he will hear about the recipients’ work, make a short speech and present Legacy Awards to this year’s winners.”

The awards come in the wake of the Photoshop saga – where Princess Kate was forced to admit she had edited a sweet Mother’s Day family pic.

This caused fans to start looking over royal photos and saw Harry and Meghan Markle breaking their silence on the saga.

Tonight’s awards come just weeks after sources gave another insight into Harry and Wills’ rift.

The first hints of friction between the brothers reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Then The Sun told how “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

Harry, 39, later hinted in his ITV documentary Harry and Meghan, An African Journey that he and his brother had grown apart.

But last month it emerged the royal rift was rumoured to have taken off over the brothers’ differing approach to wildlife conservation.

The pair share a passion for preserving protected species but they had opposing views on how to carry it out in Africa.

William favoured “community-led initiatives”, while Harry supported a “more interventionist approach”.
