Popular Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has announced she will be stepping away from her hosting duties for a short period.
The 54-year-old broadcaster shared the news during Wednesday’s episode (February 12), confirming that it would be her last day on air before a temporary break.
A Well-Deserved Half-Term Break
Speaking at the end of the morning show, Reid reassured viewers that her time away would not be permanent. She stated:
“I will be back after half term. Good Morning Britain is back tomorrow from six, now it’s time to join Lorraine.”
Her announcement follows a tradition of taking breaks during school holidays,
as she prioritizes spending time with her three sons Sam (22), Finn (20), and Jack (19), whom she shares with ex-partner Dominic Cotton, a journalist.
Family Time and Past Getaways
Reid, who is known for her dedication to her work, has spoken in the past about how important it is for her to balance her career with family life. She previously shared details of a memorable summer holiday in Ibiza with her sons.
“This summer, I took my boys to Ibiza. I have been going for 10 years, and it was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing. We go to the day clubs together, and then I go back to the hotel, and they go to the nightclubs.”
Her openness about her life off-screen has endeared her to many viewers, as she continues to juggle a high-profile television career with motherhood.
Who Will Replace Susanna Reid?
With Reid stepping away for the half-term break, attention now turns to who will take over her slot. ITV has not yet confirmed her replacement, but the likely stand-ins include well-known Good Morning Britain presenters such as Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh, or Charlotte Hawkins.
Each of these presenters has experience hosting the show and has previously filled in for Reid during her absences.
Susanna Reid’s Legacy on Good Morning Britain
Reid has been a central figure on British morning television for over two decades. Before joining ITV’s Good Morning Britain in 2014, she was a key presenter on BBC Breakfast, working alongside Charlie Stayt and later taking over from Sian Williams as a lead host in 2012.
Her move to GMB was a major career shift, and she initially co-hosted with Piers Morgan until his controversial departure in March 2021. Since then, she has shared hosting duties with a rotating team, including Richard Madeley, Ed Balls, and Martin Lewis.
Despite the lineup changes, Reid has remained a consistent and trusted voice on British television, often praised for her sharp interviewing skills and her ability to challenge politicians and public figures.
A Short Break Before Returning to GMB
While her departure is only temporary, fans of Good Morning Britain will surely miss her presence on-screen. However, they can rest assured that she will return after the half-term break, refreshed and ready to resume her role.
