Jenna Bush Hager is no stranger to a good time, and her fun-loving personality often shines through on Today with Hoda & Jenna.

However, even the most enthusiastic party guests sometimes miss the subtle hints that it’s time to go.
During a recent conversation with Hoda Kotb, Bush Hager shared a hilarious story about overstaying her welcome at Savannah Guthrie’s house
—and how Guthrie’s husband, Mike Feldman, went to great lengths to encourage her exit.

An Unintended Overstay at Savannah Guthrie’s House

The topic came up when Bush Hager and Kotb were discussing the unspoken signals that hosts use when they’re ready for guests to leave.

Kotb pointed out that sometimes people start doing dishes as a polite way to suggest the party is winding down.
That comment immediately sparked a memory for Bush Hager. “Wait, did I ever tell you— I hope I did, but if not you’re gonna love this,” she began, clearly amused by what she was about to reveal.
She then recounted a time when she was hanging out at Guthrie’s home, seemingly oblivious to the fact that her presence was lingering a bit too long. While Guthrie herself might have been too polite to say anything, her husband, Mike Feldman, took a different approach—one that involved some not-so-subtle household chores.
“There was a time when I was at Savannah’s house, and Mike Feldman wanted me to leave so badly but didn’t say it, that he started vacuuming around my feet,” Bush Hager admitted with a laugh.
As the vacuum buzzed around her, she finally got the message. “He’s vacuuming around my feet to where I was like, ‘Mike, if you’re ready for me to go, I’m ready to go,’” she said.
Knowing When It’s Time to Leave
The Today hosts erupted into laughter over the story, with Kotb acknowledging the struggle that can sometimes come with getting guests to leave.

Bush Hager then jokingly warned viewers about the dangers of staying out too late. “If you stay too late, there’s dangers involved,” she said, recalling past experiences that didn’t end so well.
Kotb agreed, adding, “You gotta be careful.”
Bush Hager also referenced one of her mother’s favorite sayings: “As my mother says, nothing good happens after midnight.” She went on to reveal that staying too late at parties has, on more than one occasion, led to some unfortunate accidents.
“I’ve lost two teeth that way. Well, injured two teeth,” she admitted.
Jenna Bush Hager’s Party Tricks and Wild Antics
This isn’t the first time Bush Hager has showcased her love for a good time. Her energetic and playful nature was recently on full display when she demonstrated her signature “go-to party trick” during an episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna.

As their guests, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, watched in amusement, Bush Hager hopped onto Kotb’s back and introduced the move as the “bucking bronco.” Kotb then crawled across the floor with Bush Hager riding on top, making for a truly unexpected moment.
Although Hilton and Richie didn’t seem too eager to try it themselves, Richie did express some admiration for the stunt. “We’re stealing this,” she remarked.
Bush Hager enthusiastically encouraged them. “Please do, it’s a real party pleaser!” she responded.
A Good-Natured Friendship and Fun Times
Bush Hager’s ability to laugh at herself and share these lighthearted stories is part of what makes her such a beloved TV personality. While Mike Feldman’s vacuuming strategy may have been a humorous way of signaling the end of the night, it’s clear that Bush Hager and Guthrie share a strong friendship—one that can withstand a few overstayed welcomes.
With her fun-loving attitude and willingness to embrace embarrassing moments, Bush Hager continues to keep audiences entertained both on and off the air. Whether it’s wild party tricks or hilarious social missteps, she never fails to bring a good laugh to the Today show.
